2006-07-24[VLAN]: Fix link state propagationStefan Rompf1-5/+3
When the queue of the underlying device is stopped at initialization time or the device is marked "not present", the state will be propagated to the vlan device and never change. Based on an analysis by Patrick McHardy. Signed-off-by: Stefan Rompf <stefan@loplof.de> ACKed-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2006-07-03[PATCH] lockdep: annotate vlan net device as being a special classArjan van de Ven1-0/+11
vlan network devices have devices nesting below it, and are a special "super class" of normal network devices; split their locks off into a separate class since they always nest. 2006-03-20[VLAN]: translate IF_OPER_DORMANT to netif_dormant_on()Stefan Rompf1-16/+27
this patch adds support to the VLAN driver to translate IF_OPER_DORMANT of the underlying device to netif_dormant_on(). Beside clean state forwarding, this allows running independant userspace supplicants on both the real device and the stacked VLAN. It depends on my RFC2863 patch. 2005-12-21[VLAN]: Add two missing checks to vlan_ioctl_handler()Mika Kukkonen1-1/+5
In vlan_ioctl_handler() the code misses couple checks for error return values. Signed-off-by: Mika Kukkonen <mikukkon@iki.fi> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-07-12[VLAN]: Fix early vlan adding leads to not functional deviceTommy Christensen1-0/+8
OK, I can see what's happening here. eth0 doesn't detect link-up until after a few seconds, so when the vlan interface is opened immediately after eth0 has been opened, it inherits the link-down state. Subsequently the vlan interface is never properly activated and are thus unable to transmit any packets. dev->state bits are not supposed to be manipulated directly. Something similar is probably needed for the netif_device_present() bit, although I don't know how this is meant to work for a virtual device. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
