2019-11-26tipc: fix link name length checkJohn Rutherford1-2/+2
In commit 4f07b80c9733 ("tipc: check msg->req data len in tipc_nl_compat_bearer_disable") the same patch code was copied into routines: tipc_nl_compat_bearer_disable(), tipc_nl_compat_link_stat_dump() and tipc_nl_compat_link_reset_stats(). The two link routine occurrences should have been modified to check the maximum link name length and not bearer name length. Commit 2753ca5d9009 ("tipc: fix uninit-value in tipc_nl_compat_doit") broke older tipc tools that use compat interface (e.g. tipc-config from tipcutils package): % tipc-config -p operation not supported The commit started to reject TIPC netlink compat messages that do not have attributes. The new route handling in ip_mc_finish_output() from 'net' overlapped with the new support for returning congestion notifications from BPF programs. 2019-04-27genetlink: optionally validate strictly/dumpsJohannes Berg1-0/+1
Add options to strictly validate messages and dump messages, sometimes perhaps validating dump messages non-strictly may be required, so add an option for that as well. 2019-04-27netlink: make validation more configurable for future strictnessJohannes Berg1-29/+34
We currently have two levels of strict validation: 1) liberal (default) - undefined (type >= max) & NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted - attribute length >= expected accepted - garbage at end of message accepted 2) strict (opt-in) - NLA_UNSPEC attributes accepted - attribute length >= expected accepted Split out parsing strictness into four different options: * TRAILING - check that there's no trailing data after parsing attributes (in message or nested) * MAXTYPE - reject attrs > max known type * UNSPEC - reject attributes with NLA_UNSPEC policy entries * STRICT_ATTRS - strictly validate attribute size The default for future things should be *everything*. The current *_strict() is a combination of TRAILING and MAXTYPE, and is renamed to _deprecated_strict(). The current regular parsing has none of this, and is renamed to *_parse_deprecated(). Additionally it allows us to selectively set one of the new flags even on old policies. Notably, the UNSPEC flag could be useful in this case, since it can be arranged (by filling in the policy) to not be an incompatible userspace ABI change, but would then going forward prevent forgetting attribute entries. Similar can apply to the POLICY flag. 2019-04-27netlink: make nla_nest_start() add NLA_F_NESTED flagMichal Kubecek1-12/+12
Even if the NLA_F_NESTED flag was introduced more than 11 years ago, most netlink based interfaces (including recently added ones) are still not setting it in kernel generated messages. Without the flag, message parsers not aware of attribute semantics (e.g. wireshark dissector or libmnl's mnl_nlmsg_fprintf()) cannot recognize nested attributes and won't display the structure of their contents. Unfortunately we cannot just add the flag everywhere as there may be userspace applications which check nlattr::nla_type directly rather than through a helper masking out the flags. Therefore the patch renames nla_nest_start() to nla_nest_start_noflag() and introduces nla_nest_start() as a wrapper adding NLA_F_NESTED. The calls which add NLA_F_NESTED manually are rewritten to use nla_nest_start(). However, tipc_nl_compat_dumpit() doesn't handle the error returned from cmd header function. It means even when the check added in that fix fails, it won't stop calling tipc_nl_compat_name_table_dump(), and the issue will be triggered again. So this patch is to add the process for the err returned from cmd header function in tipc_nl_compat_dumpit(). When len is zero, it means the message not only doesn't contain any valid TLV payload, but also TLV header is not included. Under this stituation, tlv_type field in TLV header is still accessed in tipc_nl_compat_dumpit() or tipc_nl_compat_doit(), but the field space is obviously illegal. Of course, it is not initialized. 2018-09-06tipc: call start and done ops directly in __tipc_nl_compat_dumpit()Cong Wang1-0/+2
__tipc_nl_compat_dumpit() uses a netlink_callback on stack, so the only way to align it with other ->dumpit() call path is calling tipc_dump_start() and tipc_dump_done() directly inside it. Otherwise ->dumpit() would always get NULL from cb->args[]. But tipc_dump_start() uses sock_net(cb->skb->sk) to retrieve net pointer, the cb->skb here doesn't set skb->sk, the net pointer is saved in msg->net instead, so introduce a helper function __tipc_dump_start() to pass in msg->net. Ying pointed out cb->args[0...3] are already used by other callbacks on this call path, so we can't use cb->args[0] any more, use cb->args[4] instead. The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). Now genl_register_family() is the only thing (other than the users themselves, perhaps, but I didn't find any doing that) writing to the family struct. In all families that I found, genl_register_family() is only called from __init functions (some indirectly, in which case I've add __init annotations to clarifly things), so all can actually be marked __ro_after_init. 2016-10-27genetlink: no longer support using static family IDsJohannes Berg1-1/+0
Static family IDs have never really been used, the only use case was the workaround I introduced for those users that assumed their family ID was also their multicast group ID. Additionally, because static family IDs would never be reserved by the generic netlink code, using a relatively low ID would only work for built-in families that can be registered immediately after generic netlink is started, which is basically only the control family (apart from the workaround code, which I also had to add code for so it would reserve those IDs) Thus, anything other than GENL_ID_GENERATE is flawed and luckily not used except in the cases I mentioned. Which isn't very likely as this is a compat layer, where the data we are parsing is generated by us and we know the string to be NULL terminated. But you can of course never be to secure. 2015-11-20tipc: narrow down exposure of struct tipc_nodeJon Paul Maloy1-2/+2
In our effort to have less code and include dependencies between entities such as node, link and bearer, we try to narrow down the exposed interface towards the node as much as possible. In this commit, we move the definition of struct tipc_node, along with many of its associated function declarations, from node.h to node.c. We also move some function definitions from link.c and name_distr.c to node.c, since they access fields in struct tipc_node that should not be externally visible. The moved functions are renamed according to new location, and made static whenever possible. There are no functional changes in this commit. A zero length payload means that no TLV (Type Length Value) data has been passed. Prior to this patch a non-existing TLV could be sanity checked with TLV_OK() resulting in random behavior where a user sending an empty message occasionally got a incorrect "operation not supported" message back. Default link properties can be set for media or bearer. This functionality was missed when introducing the NL compatibility layer. This patch implements this functionality in the compat netlink layer. It works the same way as it did in the old API. We search for media and bearers matching the "link name". If we find a matching media or bearer the link tolerance, priority or window is used as default for new links on that media or bearer.
