2015-10-20ALSA: hda - convert to hda_device_idTakashi Iwai1-9/+6
Finally we have a proper infrastructure to generate the modaliases automatically, let's move to hda_device_id from the legacy hda_codec_preset that contains basically the same information. The patch function hook is stored in driver_data field, which is long, and we need an explicit cast. Other than that, the conversion is mostly straightforward. Each entry is even simplified using a macro, and the lengthy (and error-prone) manual modaliases got removed. As a result, we achieved a quite good diet: 14 files changed, 407 insertions(+), 595 deletions(-) Reviewed-by: Vinod Koul <vinod.koul@intel.com> Tested-by: Subhransu S Prusty <subhransu.s.prusty@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2015-05-29ALSA: hda - Set patch_ops before calling auto-parserTakashi Iwai1-2/+2
... so that the parser code can overwrite some optional ops. For Realtek and others, it can be set solely in the spec allocator, so it results in a good code cleanup, too. With this change, we can finally remove the local stream_pm setup and rely on the generic parser's automatic setting. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2015-02-23ALSA: hda - Bind codecs via standard busTakashi Iwai1-14/+2
Now we create the standard HD-audio bus (/sys/bus/hdaudio), and bind the codec driver with the codec device over there. This is the first step of the whole transition so that the changes to each codec driver are kept as minimal as possible. Each codec driver needs to register hda_codec_driver struct containing the currently existing preset via the new helper macro module_hda_codec_driver(). The old hda_codec_preset_list is replaced with this infrastructure. The generic parsers (for HDMI and other) are also included in the preset with the special IDs to bind uniquely. In HD-audio core side, the device binding code is split to hda_bind.c. It provides the snd_hda_bus_type implementation to match the codec driver with the given codec vendor ID. It also manages the module auto-loading by itself like before: when the matching isn't found, it tries to probe the corresponding codec modules, and finally falls back to the generic drivers. (The special ID mentioned above is set at this stage.) The only visible change to outside is that the hdaudio sysfs entry now appears in /sys/bus/devices, not as a sound class device. More works to move the suspend/resume and remove ops will be (hopefully) done in later patches. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2014-08-07ALSA: hda - Fix parsing of CMI8888 codecTakashi Iwai1-0/+47
CMI8888 codec chip has a boost amp (only) on the headphone pin, and this confuses the generic parser, which tends to pick up the most outside amp. This results in the wrong volume setup, as the driver complains like: hda_codec: Mismatching dB step for vmaster slave (-100!=1000) For avoiding this problem, rule out the amp on NID 0x10 and create "Headphone Amp" volume control manually instead. Note that this patch still doesn't fix all problems yet. The sound output from the line out seems still too low. It will be fixed in another patch (hopefully). 2014-06-25ALSA: hda - Remove the obsoleted static quirk codes from patch_cmedia.cTakashi Iwai1-615/+9

2014-02-25ALSA: hda - Replace with standard printkTakashi Iwai1-1/+1
Use dev_err() and co for messages from HD-audio controller and codec drivers. The codec drivers are mostly bound with codec objects, so some helper macros, codec_err(), codec_info(), etc, are provided. They merely wrap the corresponding dev_xxx(). There are a few places still calling snd_printk() and its variants as they are called without the codec or device context. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2011-06-06ALSA: hda: Virtualize SPDIF out controlsStephen Warren1-1/+3
The SPDIF output controls apply to converter widgets. A future change will create a PCM device per pin widget, and hence a set of SPDIF output controls per pin widget, for certain HDMI codecs. To support this, we need the ability to virtualize the SPDIF output controls. Specifically: * Controls can be "unassigned" from real hardware when a converter is not used for the PCM the control was created for. * Control puts only write to hardware when they are assigned. * Controls can be "assigned" to real hardware when a converter is picked to support output for a particular PCM. * When a converter is assigned, the hardware is updated to the cached configuration. 2008-11-27ALSA: hda - Modularize HD-audio driverTakashi Iwai1-2/+25
Split the monolithc HD-audio driver into several pieces: - snd-hda-intel HD-audio PCI controller driver; loaded via udev - snd-hda-codec HD-audio codec bus driver - snd-hda-codec-* Specific HD-audio codec drivers When built as modules, snd-hda-codec (that is invoked by snd-hda-intel) looks up the codec vendor ID and loads the corresponding codec module automatically via request_module(). When built in a kernel, each codec drivers are statically hooked up before probing the PCI. This patch adds appropriate EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()'s and the module information for each driver, and driver-linking codes between codec-bus and codec drivers. TODO: - Avoid EXPORT_SYMBOL*() when built-in kernel - Restore __devinit appropriately depending on the condition Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2008-04-24[ALSA] hda-codec - Add "IEC958 Default PCM" switchTakashi Iwai1-1/+7
Added a new mixer switch to enable/disable the sharing of the default PCM stream with analog and SPDIF outputs. When "IEC958 Default PCM" switch is on, the PCM stream is routed both to analog and SPDIF outputs. This is the behavior in the earlier version. Turning this switch off has a merit for some codecs, though. Some codec chips don't support 24bit formats for SPDIF but only for analog outputs. In this case, you can use 24bit format by disabling this switch. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2008-04-24[ALSA] hda-intel - Fix PCM device number assignmentTakashi Iwai1-0/+1
In the current scheme, PCM device numbers are assigned incrementally in the order of codecs. This causes problems when the codec number is irregular, e.g. codec #0 for HDMI and codec #1 for analog. Then the HDMI becomes the first PCM, which is picked up as the default output device. Unfortuantely this doesn't work well with normal setups. This patch introduced the fixed device numbers for the PCM types, namely, analog, SPDIF, HDMI and modem. The PCM devices are assigned according to the corresponding PCM type. After this patch, HDMI will be always assigned to PCM #3, SPDIF to PCM #1, and the first analog to PCM #0, etc. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2008-01-31[ALSA] Remove sound/driver.hTakashi Iwai1-1/+0
This header file exists only for some hacks to adapt alsa-driver tree. It's useless for building in the kernel. Let's move a few lines in it to sound/core.h and remove it. With this patch, sound/driver.h isn't removed but has just a single compile warning to include it. This should be really killed in future. 2007-10-16[ALSA] hda-codec - optimize resume using cachesTakashi Iwai1-24/+0
So far, the driver looked the table of snd_kcontrol_new used for creating mixer elements and forces to call each of its put callbacks in PM resume code. This is too ugly and hackish. Now, the resume is simplified using the codec amp and command register caches. The driver simply restores the values that have been written in the cache table. With this simplification, most codec support codes don't require any special resume callback. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Jaroslav Kysela <perex@suse.cz>

2005-05-29[ALSA] choose multi-channel jacks automaticallyTakashi Iwai1-3/+230
HDA Codec driver Patch by C.L. Tien <cltien@cmedia.com.tw>: The patch makes cm9880 to choose multi-channel jacks automatically. 1. I found the current code has basic_init, which already includes necessary controls for 6-stack initialization, so I don't need another model. 2. I add a new model 'auto' to let the driver find a. if there are option real panel/front panel, b. the jacks to be used for multichannel. Because the jack color are based on MS's channel sequence, so the 'auto' model will pick the same jacks for multichannel MS uses. I did this to hope to minimize users questions. These code can also be applied to other codecs but I don't have any to test. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
