2014-11-27ASoC: mxs-sgtl5000: Remove MCLK restrictionFabio Estevam1-7/+0
According to the sgtl5000 datasheet the MCLK frequency range restriction of 8 to 27 MHz only applies when the PLL is used - synchronous SYS_MCLK input mode. mxs-sgtl5000 machine sets the codec as slave, and mx28 generates MCLK in the range of 256*fs, 384*fs or 512*fs, which is called asynchronous SYS_MCLK input. In asynchronous SYS_MCLK we cannot have the 8 to 27 MHz check because if we want to play a 8KHz sample rate track, with a MCLK of 8k * 512 = 4.096MHz the current check would return -EINVAL, which is not correct. Remove the 8 to 27MHz frequency check, since this only applies to the synchronous SYS_MCLK input case. Since commit 7b11304 ("dma: mxs-dma: Report correct residue for cyclic DMA") the mxs dmaengine driver has support for residue reporting. So there is no need to specify the SND_DMAENGINE_PCM_FLAG_NO_RESIDUE flag anymore. This allows a finer grained resolution for the PCM pointer as well as avoids the race condition that can occur with the period counting that is used when the dmaengine driver does not support residue reporting. 2014-01-07ASoC: mxs: Don't set unused struct snd_pcm_hardware fieldsLars-Peter Clausen1-5/+0
The ASoC core assumes that the PCM component of the ASoC card transparently moves data around and does not impose any restrictions on the memory layout or the transfer speed. It ignores all fields from the snd_pcm_hardware struct for the PCM driver that are related to this. Setting these fields in the PCM driver might suggest otherwise though, so rather not set them. 2013-04-17ASoC: dmaengine-pcm: Make requesting the DMA channel at PCM open optionalLars-Peter Clausen1-2/+2
Refactor the dmaengine PCM library to allow the DMA channel to be requested before opening a PCM substream. snd_dmaengine_pcm_open() now expects a DMA channel instead of a filter function and filter parameter as its parameters. snd_dmaengine_pcm_close() is updated to not release the DMA channel. This allows a dmaengine based PCM driver to request its channels before the substream is opened. The patch also introduces two new functions, snd_dmaengine_pcm_open_request_chan() and snd_dmaengine_pcm_close_release_chan(), which have the same signature and behaviour of the old snd_dmaengine_pcm_{open,close}() and internally use the new variants of these functions. All users of snd_dmaengine_pcm_{open,close}() are updated to use snd_dmaengine_pcm_open_request_chan() and snd_dmaengine_pcm_close_release_chan(). 2013-03-26ASoC: mxs: Embed the mxs_dma_data struct in the mxs_pcm_dma_params structLars-Peter Clausen3-42/+11
Currently the mxs_dma_data struct, which gets passed to the dmaengine driver, is allocated in the pcm driver's open callback. The mxs_dma_data struct has exactly one field which is initialized from the the same field in the mxs_pcm_dma_params struct. The mxs_pcm_dma_params struct gets passed to the pcm driver from the dai driver. Instead of taking this indirection embed the mxs_dma_data struct directly in the mxs_pcm_dma_params struct. This allows us to simplify the pcm driver quite a bit, since we don't have to care about memory managing the mxs_dma_data struct anymore. 2012-11-02ASoC: mxs-saif: Fix channel swap for 24-bit formatFabio Estevam1-4/+12
Playing 24-bit format file leads to channel swap on mx28 and the reason is that the current driver performs one write/read to/from the SAIF_DATA register to trigger the transfer. This approach works fine for S16_LE case because SAIF_DATA is a 32-bit register and thus is capable of storing the 16-bit left and right channels, but for the S24_LE case it can only store one channel, so in order to not lose the FIFO sync an extra read/write is needed.
