2017-10-07mtd: nand: denali: fix setup_data_interface to meet tCCS delayMasahiro Yamada1-2/+8
The WE_2_RE register specifies the number of clock cycles inserted between the rising edge of #WE and the falling edge of #RE. The current setup_data_interface implementation takes care of tWHR, but tCCS is missing. Wait for max(tCSS, tWHR) to meet the spec. With setup_data_interface() properly programmed, the Denali NAND controller can observe the timing, so NAND_WAIT_TCCS flag is unneeded. Clarify this in the comment block. 2017-10-07mtd: nand: atmel: Avoid ECC errors when leaving backup modeRomain Izard3-8/+13
During backup mode, the contents of all registers will be cleared as the SoC will be completely powered down. For a product that boots on NAND Flash memory, the bootloader will obviously use the related controller to read the Flash and correct any detected error in the memory, before handling back control to the kernel's resuming entry point. But it does not clean the NAND controller registers after use and on its side the kernel driver expects the error locator to be powered down and in a clean state. Add a resume hook for the PMECC error locator, and reset its registers. Signed-off-by: Romain Izard <romain.izard.pro@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com>

2017-10-07mtd: nand: gpio: Convert to use GPIO descriptorsLinus Walleij3-66/+70
There is exactly one board in the kernel that defines platform data for the GPIO NAND driver. Use the feature to provide a lookup table for the GPIOs in the board file so we can convert the driver as a whole to just use GPIO descriptors. After this we can cut the use of <linux/of_gpio.h> and use the GPIO descriptor management from <linux/gpio/consumer.h> alone to grab and use the GPIOs used in the driver. I also created a local struct device *dev in the probe() function because I was getting annoyed with all the &pdev->dev dereferencing. 2017-09-22dt-bindings: nand: denali: reduce the register space in the exampleMasahiro Yamada1-1/+1
This example allocates much more than needed for address regions. As for "denali_reg", as you see in drivers/mtd/nand/denali.h, all registers fit in 0x1000. As for "nand_data", this IP is generally configured to use Indexed Addressing mode, where there are only two registers in the address translation module (CTRL: 0x00, DATA: 0x10). Altera SOCFPGA is also this case. So, 0x20 is enough. 2017-09-22mtd: nand: denali: support direct addressing modeMasahiro Yamada2-41/+70
The Denali NAND IP core decodes the lower 28 bits of the slave address to get the control information; bit[27:26]=mode, bit[25:24]=bank, etc. This means 256MB address range must be allocated for this IP. (Direct Addressing) For systems with address space limitation, the Denali IP provides an optional module that translates the addressing - address and data are latched by the registers in the translation module. (Indexed Addressing) The addressing mode can be selected when the delivered RTL is configured, and it can be read out from the FEATURES register. Most of SoC vendors would choose Indexed Addressing to save the address space, but Direct Addressing is possible as well, and it can be easily supported by adding ->host_{read,write} hooks. 2017-09-22mtd: nand: denali: clean up commentsMasahiro Yamada4-66/+13
This driver explains too much about what is apparent from the code. Comments around basic APIs such as init_completion(), spin_lock_init(), etc. seem unneeded lessons to kernel developers. (With those comments dropped, denali_drv_init() is small enough, so it has been merged into the probe function.) Also, NAND driver developers should know the NAND init procedure, so there is no need to explain nand_scan_ident/tail. I removed FSF's address from the license blocks, and added simple comments to struct members. 2017-09-22mtd: nand: denali: use more FIELD_PREP / FIELD_GET where appropriateMasahiro Yamada1-11/+11
In several places in this driver, the register fields are retrieved as follows: val = reg & FOO_MASK; Then, modified as follows: reg &= ~FOO_MASK; reg |= val; This code relies on its shift is 0, which we will never know until we check the definition of FOO_MASK. Use FIELD_PREP / FIELD_GET where appropriate. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com> Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com>
2017-09-22mtd: nand: denali: clean up macros with <linux/bitfield.h>Masahiro Yamada2-22/+16
All the register offsets and bitfield masks are defined in denali.h, but the driver code ended up with additional crappy macros such as MAKE_ECC_CORRECTION(), ECC_SECTOR(), etc. The reason is apparent - accessing a register field requires mask and shift pair. The denali.h only provides mask. However, defining both is tedious. <linux/bitfield.h> provides a convenient way to get register fields only with a single shifted mask. Now use it. While I am here, I shortened some macros. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.masahiro@socionext.com> Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com>

2017-09-22staging: mt29f_spinand: Enable the read ECC before program the pageArun Nagendran1-2/+6
Current program_page function did following operation: 1. read page (with ECC OFF) 2. modify the page 3. write the page (with ECC ON) For some case(buggy flash Chip), while read the page without ECC ON, we may read the page with bit flip error and modify that bad page without knowing the bit flip error on that page. also we re-calculate the hash for bad page and write it. 2017-09-18mtd: nand: denali: support two row address cycle devicesMasahiro Yamada1-2/+2
The register TWO_ROW_ADDR_CYCLES specifies the number of row address cycles of the device, but it is fixed to 0 in the driver init code (i.e. always 3 row address cycles). 2017-09-18mtd: nand: introduce NAND_ROW_ADDR_3 flagMasahiro Yamada8-15/+14
Several drivers check ->chipsize to see if the third row address cycle is needed. Instead of embedding magic sizes such as 32MB, 128MB in drivers, introduce a new flag NAND_ROW_ADDR_3 for clean-up. Since nand_scan_ident() knows well about the device, it can handle this properly. The flag is set if the row address bit width is greater than 16. 2017-09-15sctp: do not mark sk dumped when inet_sctp_diag_fill returns errXin Long1-1/+0
sctp_diag would not actually dump out sk/asoc if inet_sctp_diag_fill returns err, in which case it shouldn't mark sk dumped by setting cb->args[3] as 1 in sctp_sock_dump(). Otherwise, it could cause some asocs to have no parent's sk dumped in 'ss --sctp'. So this patch is to not set cb->args[3] when inet_sctp_diag_fill() returns err in sctp_sock_dump(). 2017-09-15sctp: fix an use-after-free issue in sctp_sock_dumpXin Long3-39/+36
Commit 86fdb3448cc1 ("sctp: ensure ep is not destroyed before doing the dump") tried to fix an use-after-free issue by checking !sctp_sk(sk)->ep with holding sock and sock lock. But Paolo noticed that endpoint could be destroyed in sctp_rcv without sock lock protection. It means the use-after-free issue still could be triggered when sctp_rcv put and destroy ep after sctp_sock_dump checks !ep, although it's pretty hard to reproduce. I could reproduce it by mdelay in sctp_rcv while msleep in sctp_close and sctp_sock_dump long time. This patch is to add another param cb_done to sctp_for_each_transport and dump ep->assocs with holding tsp after jumping out of transport's traversal in it to avoid this issue. It can also improve sctp diag dump to make it run faster, as no need to save sk into cb->args[5] and keep calling sctp_for_each_transport any more. This patch is also to use int * instead of int for the pos argument in sctp_for_each_transport, which could make postion increment only in sctp_for_each_transport and no need to keep changing cb->args[2] in sctp_sock_filter and sctp_sock_dump any more. 2017-09-15tcp: update skb->skb_mstamp more carefullyEric Dumazet1-7/+12
liujian reported a problem in TCP_USER_TIMEOUT processing with a patch in tcp_probe_timer() : https://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg454496.html After investigations, the root cause of the problem is that we update skb->skb_mstamp of skbs in write queue, even if the attempt to send a clone or copy of it failed. One reason being a routing problem. This patch prevents this, solving liujian issue. It also removes a potential RTT miscalculation, since __tcp_retransmit_skb() is not OR-ing TCP_SKB_CB(skb)->sacked with TCPCB_EVER_RETRANS if a failure happens, but skb->skb_mstamp has been changed. A future ACK would then lead to a very small RTT sample and min_rtt would then be lowered to this too small value. 2017-09-15net: smsc911x: Quieten netif during suspendGeert Uytterhoeven1-1/+14
If the network interface is kept running during suspend, the net core may call net_device_ops.ndo_start_xmit() while the Ethernet device is still suspended, which may lead to a system crash. E.g. on sh73a0/kzm9g and r8a73a4/ape6evm, the external Ethernet chip is driven by a PM controlled clock. If the Ethernet registers are accessed while the clock is not running, the system will crash with an imprecise external abort. As this is a race condition with a small time window, it is not so easy to trigger at will. Using pm_test may increase your chances: # echo 0 > /sys/module/printk/parameters/console_suspend # echo platform > /sys/power/pm_test # echo mem > /sys/power/state To fix this, make sure the network interface is quietened during suspend. 2017-09-15net: vrf: avoid gcc-4.6 warningArnd Bergmann1-3/+3
When building an allmodconfig kernel with gcc-4.6, we get a rather odd warning: drivers/net/vrf.c: In function ‘vrf_ip6_input_dst’: drivers/net/vrf.c:964:3: error: initialized field with side-effects overwritten [-Werror] drivers/net/vrf.c:964:3: error: (near initialization for ‘fl6’) [-Werror] I have no idea what this warning is even trying to say, but it does seem like a false positive. Reordering the initialization in to match the structure definition gets rid of the warning, and might also avoid whatever gcc thinks is wrong here. 2017-09-15kvm: nVMX: Handle deferred early VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure properlyJim Mattson1-59/+75
When emulating a nested VM-entry from L1 to L2, several control field validation checks are deferred to the hardware. Should one of these validation checks fail, vcpu_vmx_run will set the vmx->fail flag. When this happens, the L2 guest state is not loaded (even in part), and execution should continue in L1 with the next instruction after the VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME. The VMCS12 is not modified (except for the VM-instruction error field), the VMCS12 MSR save/load lists are not processed, and the CPU state is not loaded from the VMCS12 host area. Moreover, the vmcs02 exit reason is stale, so it should not be consulted for any reason. Signed-off-by: Jim Mattson <jmattson@google.com> Signed-off-by: Paolo Bonzini <pbonzini@redhat.com>
2017-09-15kvm: vmx: Handle VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure properlyJim Mattson1-6/+8
On an early VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure (i.e. one which sets the VM-instruction error field of the current VMCS), the launch state of the current VMCS is not set to "launched," and the VM-exit information fields of the current VMCS (including IDT-vectoring information and exit reason) are stale. On a late VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME failure (i.e. one which sets the high bit of the exit reason field), the launch state of the current VMCS is not set to "launched," and only two of the VM-exit information fields of the current VMCS are modified (exit reason and exit qualification). The remaining VM-exit information fields of the current VMCS (including IDT-vectoring information, in particular) are stale. Which is the equivalent of what we have in regular waitqueues. I'm not crazy about the name, but this also helps us get both apis closer -- which iirc comes originally from the -net folks.
