2022-05-10perf auxtrace: Do not mix up mmap idxAdrian Hunter1-2/+8
The idx is with respect to evlist not evsel. That hasn't mattered because they are the same at present. Prepare for that not being the case, which it won't be when sideband tracking events are allowed on all CPUs even when auxtrace is limited to selected CPUs. 2022-05-09perf metrics: Don't add all tool events for sharingIan Rogers1-6/+39
Tool events are added to the set of events for parsing so that having a tool event in a metric doesn't inhibit event sharing of events between metrics. All tool events were added but this meant unused tool events would be counted. Reduce this set of tool events to just those present in the overall metric list. 2022-05-05perf evlist: Clear all_cpus before propagatingIan Rogers1-0/+4
all_cpus is merged into during propagation. Initially all_cpus is set from PMU sysfs. perf_evlist__set_maps() will recompute it and change evsel->cpus to user_requested_cpus if they are given. If all_cpus isn't cleared then the union of the user_requested_cpus and PMU sysfs values is set to all_cpus, whereas just user_requested_cpus is necessary. To avoid this make all_cpus empty prior to propagation. Switch some raw accesses to the cpu map to using the library API. This can help with reference count checking. Some BPF cases switch from index to CPU for consistency, this shouldn't matter as the CPU map is full. 2022-05-03perf tools: Use Python devtools for version autodetection rather than runtimeJames Clark1-12/+27
This fixes the issue where the build will fail if only the Python2 runtime is installed but the Python3 devtools are installed. Currently the workaround is 'make PYTHON=python3'. Fix it by autodetecting Python based on whether python[x]-config exists rather than just python[x] because both are needed for the build. Then -config is stripped to find the Python runtime. People are occasionally reporting a warning bfqq_request_over_limit() triggering reporting that BFQ's idea of cgroup hierarchy (and its depth) does not match what generic blkcg code thinks. 2022-04-28net: enetc: allow tc-etf offload even with NETIF_F_CSUM_MASKVladimir Oltean1-4/+0
The Time-Specified Departure feature is indeed mutually exclusive with TX IP checksumming in ENETC, but TX checksumming in itself is broken and was removed from this driver in commit 82728b91f124 ("enetc: Remove Tx checksumming offload code"). The blamed commit declared NETIF_F_HW_CSUM in dev->features to comply with software TSO's expectations, and still did the checksumming in software by calling skb_checksum_help(). So there isn't any restriction for the Time-Specified Departure feature. However, enetc_setup_tc_txtime() doesn't understand that, and blindly looks for NETIF_F_CSUM_MASK. Instead of checking for things which can literally never happen in the current code base, just remove the check and let the driver offload tc-etf qdiscs. Now arch-specific functions all do the same thing. When it fixes the symbol address it needs to check the boundary between the kernel image and modules. 2022-04-28perf symbol: Pass is_kallsyms to symbols__fixup_end()Namhyung Kim3-5/+6
The symbol fixup is necessary for symbols in kallsyms since they don't have size info. So we use the next symbol's address to calculate the size. Now it's also used for user binaries because sometimes they miss size for hand-written asm functions. There's a arch-specific function to handle kallsyms differently but currently it cannot distinguish kallsyms from others. Pass this information explicitly to handle it properly. Note that those arch functions will be moved to the generic function so I didn't added it to the arch-functions. Commit 00bfe02f4796 ("gfs2: Fix mmap + page fault deadlocks for buffered I/O") changed gfs2_file_read_iter() and gfs2_file_buffered_write() to allow dropping the inode glock while faulting in user buffers. When the lock was dropped, a short result was returned to indicate that the operation was interrupted. As pointed out by Linus (see the link below), this behavior is broken and the operations should always re-acquire the inode glock and resume the operation instead. 2022-04-28elf: Fix the arm64 MTE ELF segment name and valueCatalin Marinas3-4/+4
Unfortunately, the name/value choice for the MTE ELF segment type (PT_ARM_MEMTAG_MTE) was pretty poor: LOPROC+1 is already in use by PT_AARCH64_UNWIND, as defined in the AArch64 ELF ABI (https://github.com/ARM-software/abi-aa/blob/main/aaelf64/aaelf64.rst). Update the ELF segment type value to LOPROC+2 and also change the define to PT_AARCH64_MEMTAG_MTE to match the AArch64 ELF ABI namespace. The AArch64 ELF ABI document is updating accordingly (segment type not previously mentioned in the document).
