2015-01-05clocksource: exynos_mct: Fix bitmask regression for exynos4_mct_writeTobias Jakobi1-2/+2
EXYNOS4_MCT_L_MASK is defined as 0xffffff00, so applying this bitmask produces a number outside the range 0x00 to 0xff, which always results in execution of the default switch statement. Obviously this is wrong and git history shows that the bitmask inversion was incorrectly set during a refactoring of the MCT code. Fix this by putting the inversion at the correct position again. 2014-12-19tick/powerclamp: Remove tick_nohz_idle abuseThomas Gleixner2-4/+0
commit 4dbd27711cd9 "tick: export nohz tick idle symbols for module use" was merged via the thermal tree without an explicit ack from the relevant maintainers. The exports are abused by the intel powerclamp driver which implements a fake idle state from a sched FIFO task. This causes all kinds of wreckage in the NOHZ core code which rightfully assumes that tick_nohz_idle_enter/exit() are only called from the idle task itself. Recent changes in the NOHZ core lead to a failure of the powerclamp driver and now people try to hack completely broken and backwards workarounds into the NOHZ core code. This is completely unacceptable and just papers over the real problem. There are way more subtle issues lurking around the corner. The real solution is to fix the powerclamp driver by rewriting it with a sane concept, but that's beyond the scope of this. So the only solution for now is to remove the calls into the core NOHZ code from the powerclamp trainwreck along with the exports. I'm such a moron! The simple solution of saving the BSP patch for use on resume was too simple (and wrong!), hint: sizeof(struct microcode_intel). What needs to be done instead is to fish out the microcode patch we have stashed previously and apply that on the BSP in case the late loader hasn't been utilized. So do that instead. 2014-12-08x86/kconfig/defconfig: Enable CONFIG_FHANDLE=yRichard Weinberger2-0/+2
systemd has a hard dependency on CONFIG_FHANDLE. If you run systemd with CONFIG_FHANDLE=n it will somehow boot but fail to spawn a getty or other basic services. As systemd is now used by most x86 distributions it makes sense to enabled this by default and save kernel hackers a lot of value debugging time. 2014-12-08x86/ticketlock: Fix spin_unlock_wait() livelockOleg Nesterov1-1/+13
arch_spin_unlock_wait() looks very suboptimal, to the point I think this is just wrong and can lead to livelock: if the lock is heavily contended we can never see head == tail. But we do not need to wait for arch_spin_is_locked() == F. If it is locked we only need to wait until the current owner drops this lock. So we could simply spin until old_head != lock->tickets.head in this case, but .head can overflow and thus we can't check "unlocked" only once before the main loop. Also, the "unlocked" check can ignore TICKET_SLOWPATH_FLAG bit.
