2021-11-30torture: Remove RCU_FAST_NO_HZ from rcu scenariosPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0
All of the rcu scenarios that mentioning CONFIG_RCU_FAST_NO_HZ disable it. But this Kconfig option is disabled by default, so this commit removes the pointless "CONFIG_RCU_FAST_NO_HZ=n" lines from these scenarios. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@kernel.org>
2019-10-05rcutorture: Remove CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n from scenariosPaul E. McKenney1-3/+0
A number of mainstream CPU families are no longer capable of building kernels having CONFIG_SMP=y and CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n, so this commit removes this combination from the rcutorture scenarios having it. People wishing to try out this combination may still do so using the "--kconfig CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n CONFIG_SUSPEND=n CONFIG_HIBERNATION=n" argument to the tools/testing/selftests/rcutorture/bin/kvm.sh script that is used to run rcutorture. 2017-06-08rcu: Eliminate NOCBs CPU-state Kconfig optionsPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0
The CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU_ALL, CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU_NONE, and CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU_ZERO Kconfig options are used only in testing and are redundant with the rcu_nocbs= boot parameter. This commit therefore removes these three Kconfig options and adjusts the rcutorture scripts to use the boot parameter instead. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2017-01-14torture: Run a couple scenarios with CONFIG_RCU_EQS_DEBUGPaul E. McKenney1-0/+1
This commit runs TREE04 and TREE08 with CONFIG_RCU_EQS_DEBUG=y, enabling dyntick-counter checking on those two tests. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Josh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org>
2017-01-14torture: Run one test with DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC but not PROVE_LOCKINGPaul E. McKenney1-2/+1
This commit sets CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC but not CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING for TREE08 in order to have at least one test with this configuration. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Josh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org>
2015-07-17rcu: Remove CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_INFOPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0
The CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_INFO has been default-y for a couple of releases with no complaints, so it is time to eliminate this Kconfig option entirely, so that the long-form RCU CPU stall warnings cannot be disabled. This commit does just that. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2015-05-27rcutorture: Update TREE_RCU-kconfig.txtPaul E. McKenney1-1/+1
This commit updates TREE_RCU-kconfig.txt to reflect changes in RCU's Kconfig setup. This commit also updates rcutorture's Kconfig fragments to account for Kconfig parameters that are now driven directly off of other Kconfig parameters. The #CHECK# prefix tells the rcutorture scripts to take no action to try to set the Kconfig parameter, but to check that it does in fact get set. This is useful for verifying that Kconfig parameters that are supposed to be automatically set do in fact get set to the required values. 2015-05-27rcutorture: Make rcutorture scripts force RCU_EXPERTPaul E. McKenney1-0/+1
This commit causes the rcutorture scripts to force RCU_EXPERT so that these scripts can cause rcutorture to torture RCU in the various required configurations. However, SRCU-P, TASKS03, and TREE09 retain !RCU_EXPERT in order to ensure testing of the vanilla configuration. Signed-off-by: Paul E. 2015-05-27rcutorture: Update configuration fragments for rcutree.rcu_fanout_exactPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0
This commit updates rcutortures configuration-fragment files to account for the move from the CONFIG_RCU_FANOUT_EXACT Kconfig parameter to the new rcutree.rcu_fanout_exact= boot parameter. 2015-05-27rcutorture: Exchange TREE03 and TREE08 NR_CPUS, speed up CPU hotplugPaul E. McKenney1-1/+1
TREE03 has been especially effective at finding bugs lately. This commit makes it even more effective by speeding up its CPU hotplug testing and increasing its NR_CPUs from 8 to 16. TREE08's NR_CPUS is decreased from 16 to 8 in order to maintain the same test duration. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Josh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org>

2014-10-29rcu: Remove redundant TREE_PREEMPT_RCU config optionPranith Kumar1-1/+1
PREEMPT_RCU and TREE_PREEMPT_RCU serve the same function after TINY_PREEMPT_RCU has been removed. This patch removes TREE_PREEMPT_RCU and uses PREEMPT_RCU config option in its place. Signed-off-by: Pranith Kumar <bobby.prani@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2014-10-28rcu: Remove CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_VERBOSEPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0
The CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_VERBOSE Kconfig parameter causes preemptible RCU's CPU stall warnings to dump out any preempted tasks that are blocking the current RCU grace period. This information is useful, and the default has been CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_VERBOSE=y for some years. It is therefore time for this commit to remove this Kconfig parameter, so that future kernel builds will always act as if CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_VERBOSE=y. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2014-07-09rcu: Remove CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_DELAYPaul E. McKenney1-1/+0

2014-02-23rcutorture: Introduce "rcu" directory level underneath configsPaul E. McKenney1-0/+25
This commit uses the standard software ploy of introducing another level of indirection below the configs directory. This allows each torture-test suite to have its own set of Kconfig files, boot parameters, and version-specific scripts. Initially, we have only rcu, but lock will follow soonish.
