2017-02-09core: migrate exception table users off module.h and onto extable.hPaul Gortmaker3-0/+3
These files were including module.h for exception table related functions. We've now separated that content out into its own file "extable.h" so now move over to that and where possible, avoid all the extra header content in module.h that we don't really need to compile these non-modular files. Note: init/main.c still needs module.h for __init_or_module kernel/extable.c still needs module.h for is_module_text_address ...and so we don't get the benefit of removing module.h from the cpp feed for these two files, unlike the almost universal 1:1 exchange of module.h for extable.h we were able to do in the arch dirs. We start with a delete of a duplicate prototype in asm/exception.h that no longer needs to exist, as it duplicates content in extable.h and since that header is so small, there is no point trying to avoid using it. Then we make sure anyone using search_exception_tables directly or via the ia64_done_with_exception macro has included extable.h In the process, we remove an include of moduleloader.h that was apparently not really required; it would have been fetching in module.h and hence the previous location of the exception search function prototypes, but we need not rely on that anymore. 2017-01-24ia64: move ia64_done_with_exception out of asm/uaccess.hPaul Gortmaker6-18/+42
Move ia64_done_with_exception out of asm/uaccess.h (which is widely used) and into asm/exception.h (like ARM has) and then ensure the few callers of it include this new header. Most of the other C content in asm files is implemented in macro form. So we do that conversion at the same time as the move. There are two C exception prototypes that move along with the macro. One of them will become redundant when we switch over to using the <linux/extable.h> instead of <linux/module.h> header in a subsequent commit. Also relocate a couple of the automated asm --> linux uaccess conversions to preserve the linux and asm independent grouping, since we are in the file at that location anyway. 2017-01-20KVM: s390: do not expose random data via facility bitmapChristian Borntraeger1-2/+2
kvm_s390_get_machine() populates the facility bitmap by copying bytes from the host results that are stored in a 256 byte array in the prefix page. The KVM code does use the size of the target buffer (2k), thus copying and exposing unrelated kernel memory (mostly machine check related logout data). Let's use the size of the source buffer instead. This is ok, as the target buffer will always be greater or equal than the source buffer as the KVM internal buffers (and thus S390_ARCH_FAC_LIST_SIZE_BYTE) cover the maximum possible size that is allowed by STFLE, which is 256 doublewords. All structures are zero allocated so we can leave bytes 256-2047 unchanged. Add a similar fix for kvm_arch_init_vm(). 2017-01-20xhci: remove WARN_ON if dma mask is not set for platform devicesMathias Nyman1-1/+1
The warn on is a bit too much, we will anyway set the dma mask if not set previously. The main reason for this fix is that 4.10-rc1 has a dwc3 change that pass a parent sysdev dev pointer instead of setting the dma mask of its xhci platform device. xhci platform driver can then get more attributes from the sysdev than just the dma mask. The usb core and xhci changes are not yet in 4.10, and a fix like this was preferred instead of taking those big changes this late in the rc-cycle. 2017-01-20powerpc: Ignore reserved field in DCSR and PVR reads and writesAnton Blanchard1-5/+5
IBM bit 31 (for the rest of us - bit 0) is a reserved field in the instruction definition of mtspr and mfspr. Hardware is encouraged to (and does) ignore it. As a result, if userspace executes an mtspr DSCR with the reserved bit set, we get a DSCR facility unavailable exception. The kernel fails to match against the expected value/mask, and we silently return to userspace to try and re-execute the same mtspr DSCR instruction. We loop forever until the process is killed. We should do something here, and it seems mirroring what hardware does is the better option vs killing the process. While here, relax the matching of mfspr PVR too. 2017-01-19ARM: dts: da850-evm: fix read access to SPI flashFabien Parent1-0/+1
Read access to the SPI flash are broken on da850-evm, i.e. the data read is not what is actually programmed on the flash. According to the datasheet for the M25P64 part present on the da850-evm, if the SPI frequency is higher than 20MHz then the READ command is not usable anymore and only the FAST_READ command can be used to read data. This commit specifies in the DTS that we should use FAST_READ command instead of the READ command. As virtio-1 introduced the possibility of the device manipulating the status byte, revision 2 of the virtio-ccw transport introduced a means of getting the status byte from the device via READ_STATUS. Since ef1b144d ("tools/virtio/ringtest: fix run-on-all.sh to work without /dev/cpu") run-on-all.sh uses seq 0 $HOST_AFFINITY as the list of ids of the CPUs to run the command on (assuming ids of online CPUs are consecutive and start from 0), where $HOST_AFFINITY is the highest CPU id in the system previously determined using lscpu. This can fail on systems with offline CPUs. Instead let's use lscpu to determine the list of online CPUs. Using control_work instead of config_work as the 3rd argument to container_of results in an invalid portdev pointer. Indeed, the work structure is initialized as below: INIT_WORK(&portdev->config_work, &config_work_handler); It leads to a crash when portdev->vdev is dereferenced later. This is to silence an uninitialized variable warning in debug output. The problem is this line: pr_debug("vhost_get_vq_desc: head: %d, out: %u in: %u\n", head, out, in); If "head == vq->num" is true on the first iteration then "out" and "in" aren't initialized. We handle that a few lines after the printk. I was tempted to just delete the pr_debug() but I decided to just initialize them to zero instead. A user noticed that write performance was horrible over loopback and we traced it to an inversion of when we need to set MSG_MORE. It should be set when we have more bvec's to send, not when we are on the last bvec. This patch made the test go from 20 iops to 78k iops. 2017-01-19arm64: avoid returning from bad_modeMark Rutland2-5/+25
Generally, taking an unexpected exception should be a fatal event, and bad_mode is intended to cater for this. However, it should be possible to contain unexpected synchronous exceptions from EL0 without bringing the kernel down, by sending a SIGILL to the task. We tried to apply this approach in commit 9955ac47f4ba1c95 ("arm64: don't kill the kernel on a bad esr from el0"), by sending a signal for any bad_mode call resulting from an EL0 exception. However, this also applies to other unexpected exceptions, such as SError and FIQ. The entry paths for these exceptions branch to bad_mode without configuring the link register, and have no kernel_exit. Thus, if we take one of these exceptions from EL0, bad_mode will eventually return to the original user link register value. This patch fixes this by introducing a new bad_el0_sync handler to cater for the recoverable case, and restoring bad_mode to its original state, whereby it calls panic() and never returns. The recoverable case branches to bad_el0_sync with a bl, and returns to userspace via the usual ret_to_user mechanism. 2017-01-19HID: wacom: Fix sibling detection regressionJason Gerecke2-8/+18
Commit 345857b ("HID: wacom: generic: Add support for sensor offsets") included a change to the operation and location of the call to 'wacom_add_shared_data' in 'wacom_parse_and_register'. The modifications included moving it higher up so that it would occur before the call to 'wacom_retrieve_hid_descriptor'. This was done to prevent a crash that would have occured when the report containing tablet offsets was fed into the driver with 'wacom_hid_report_raw_event' (specifically: the various 'wacom_wac_*_report' functions were written with the assumption that they would only be called once tablet setup had completed; 'wacom_wac_pen_report' in particular dereferences 'shared' which wasn't yet allocated). Moving the call to 'wacom_add_shared_data' effectively prevented the crash but also broke the sibiling detection code which assumes that the HID descriptor has been read and the various device_type flags set. To fix this situation, we restore the original 'wacom_add_shared_data' operation and location and instead implement an alternative change that can also prevent the crash. Specifically, we notice that the report functions mentioned above expect to be called only for input reports.
