2019-04-01tools lib traceevent: Remove call to exit() from tep_filter_add_filter_str()Tzvetomir Stoyanov1-3/+0
This patch removes call to exit() from tep_filter_add_filter_str(). A library function should not force the application to exit. In the current implementation tep_filter_add_filter_str() calls exit() when a special "test_filters" mode is set, used only for debugging purposes. When this mode is set and a filter is added - its string is printed to the console and exit() is called. This patch changes the logic - when in "test_filters" mode, the filter string is still printed, but the exit() is not called. It is up to the application to track when "test_filters" mode is set and to call exit, if needed. This patch removes trivial filter tep APIs: enum tep_filter_trivial_type tep_filter_event_has_trivial() tep_update_trivial() tep_filter_clear_trivial() Trivial filters is an optimization, used only in the first version of KernelShark. The API is deprecated, the next KernelShark release does not use it. As traceevent is going to be transferred into a proper library, its local data should be protected from the library users. This patch encapsulates struct tep_handler into a local header, not visible outside of the library. It implements also a bunch of new APIs, which library users can use to access tep_handler members. Later it can be decided to use only POSIX functions, then we can easly replace all the `asprintf(3)` with a local implementation of that function. 2016-05-12tools lib traceevent: Do not reassign parg after collapse_tree()Steven Rostedt1-2/+2
At the end of process_filter(), collapse_tree() was changed to update the parg parameter, but the reassignment after the call wasn't removed. What happens is that the "current_op" gets modified and freed and parg is assigned to the new allocated argument. But after the call to collapse_tree(), parg is assigned again to the just freed "current_op", and this causes the tool to crash. The current_op variable must also be assigned to NULL in case of error, otherwise it will cause it to be free()ed twice.
