2022-07-22erofs: introduce multi-reference pclusters (fully-referenced)Gao Xiang4-56/+93
Let's introduce multi-reference pclusters at runtime. In details, if one pcluster is requested by multiple extents at almost the same time (even belong to different files), the longest extent will be decompressed as representative and the other extents are actually copied from the longest one in one round. After this patch, fully-referenced extents can be correctly handled and the full decoding check needs to be bypassed for partial-referenced extents. 2022-07-21erofs: record the longest decompressed size in this roundGao Xiang2-58/+31
Currently, `pcl->length' records the longest decompressed length as long as the pcluster itself isn't reclaimed. However, such number is unneeded for the general cases since it doesn't indicate the exact decompressed size in this round. Instead, let's record the decompressed size for this round instead, thus `pcl->nr_pages' can be completely dropped and pageofs_out is also designed to be kept in sync with `pcl->length'. 2022-07-21erofs: clean up `enum z_erofs_collectmode'Gao Xiang1-32/+31
`enum z_erofs_collectmode' is really ambiguous, but I'm not quite sure if there are better naming, basically it's used to judge whether inplace I/O can be used due to the current status of pclusters in the chain. Rename it as `enum z_erofs_pclustermode' instead. 2022-07-21erofs: rework online page handlingGao Xiang2-83/+42
Since all decompressed offsets have been integrated to bvecs[], this patch avoids all sub-indexes so that page->private only includes a part count and an eio flag, thus in the future folio->private can have the same meaning. In addition, PG_error will not be used anymore after this patch and we're heading to use page->private (later folio->private) and page->mapping (later folio->mapping) only. 2022-07-21erofs: switch compressed_pages[] to bufvecGao Xiang2-60/+57
Convert compressed_pages[] to bufvec in order to avoid using page->private to keep onlinepage_index (decompressed offset) for inplace I/O pages. In the future, we only rely on folio->private to keep a countdown to unlock folios and set folio_uptodate. 2022-07-21erofs: introduce `z_erofs_parse_in_bvecs'Gao Xiang1-52/+80
`z_erofs_decompress_pcluster()' is too long therefore it'd be better to introduce another helper to parse compressed pages (or laterly, compressed bvecs.) BTW, since `compressed_bvecs' is too long as a part of the function name, `in_bvecs' is used here instead. 2022-07-21erofs: drop the old pagevec approachGao Xiang3-171/+18
Remove the old pagevec approach but keep z_erofs_page_type for now. It will be reworked in the following commits as well. Also rename Z_EROFS_NR_INLINE_PAGEVECS as Z_EROFS_INLINE_BVECS with the new value 2 since it's actually enough to bootstrap. 2022-07-21erofs: introduce bufvec to store decompressed buffersGao Xiang2-50/+153
For each pcluster, the total compressed buffers are determined in advance, yet the number of decompressed buffers actually vary. Too many decompressed pages can be recorded if one pcluster is highly compressed or its pcluster size is large. That takes extra memory footprints compared to uncompressed filesystems, especially a lot of I/O in flight on low-ended devices. Therefore, similar to inplace I/O, pagevec was introduced to reuse page cache to store these pointers in the time-sharing way since these pages are actually unused before decompressing. In order to make it more flexable, a cleaner bufvec is used to replace the old pagevec stuffs so that - Decompressed offsets can be stored inline, thus it can be used for the upcoming feature like compressed data deduplication. It's calculated by `page_offset(page) - map->m_la'; - Towards supporting large folios for compressed inodes since our final goal is to completely avoid page->private but use folio->private only for all page cache pages. 2022-07-09erofs: avoid consecutive detection for Highmem memoryGao Xiang1-6/+10
Currently, vmap()s are avoided if physical addresses are consecutive for decompressed buffers. I observed that is very common for 4KiB pclusters since the numbers of decompressed pages are almost 2 or 3. However, such detection doesn't work for Highmem pages on 32-bit machines, let's fix it now. 2022-07-09erofs: wake up all waiters after z_erofs_lzma_head readyYuwen Chen1-0/+1
When the user mounts the erofs second times, the decompression thread may hung. The problem happens due to a sequence of steps like the following: 1) Task A called z_erofs_load_lzma_config which obtain all of the node from the z_erofs_lzma_head. 2) At this time, task B called the z_erofs_lzma_decompress and wanted to get a node. But the z_erofs_lzma_head was empty, the Task B had to sleep. 3) Task A release nodes and push nodes into the z_erofs_lzma_head. But task B was still sleeping. 2022-06-26perf inject: Adjust output data offset for backward compatibilityRaul Silvera3-1/+17
When 'perf inject' creates a new file, it reuses the data offset from the input file. If there has been a change on the size of the header, as happened in v5.12 -> v5.13, the new offsets will be wrong, resulting in a corrupted output file. This change adds the function perf_session__data_offset to compute the data offset based on the current header size, and uses that instead of the offset from the original input file. 2022-06-26parisc: Fix flush_anon_page on PA8800/PA8900John David Anglin1-1/+4
Anonymous pages are allocated with the shared mappings colouring, SHM_COLOUR. Since the alias boundary on machines with PA8800 and PA8900 processors is unknown, flush_user_cache_page() might not flush all mappings of a shared anonymous page. Flushing the whole data cache flushes all mappings. This won't fix all coherency issues with shared mappings but it seems to work well in practice. I haven't seen any random memory faults in almost a month on a rp3440 running as a debian buildd machine. There is a small preformance hit. 2022-06-26kbuild: link vmlinux only once for CONFIG_TRIM_UNUSED_KSYMS (2nd attempt)Masahiro Yamada1-1/+1
If CONFIG_TRIM_UNUSED_KSYMS is enabled and the kernel is built from a pristine state, the vmlinux is linked twice. Commit 3fdc7d3fe4c0 ("kbuild: link vmlinux only once for CONFIG_TRIM_UNUSED_KSYMS") explains why this happens, but it did not fix the issue at all. Now I realized I had applied a wrong patch. In v1 patch [1], the autoksyms_recursive target correctly recurses to "$(MAKE) -f $(srctree)/Makefile autoksyms_recursive". In v2 patch [2], I accidentally dropped the diff line, and it recurses to "$(MAKE) -f $(srctree)/Makefile vmlinux". Restore the code I intended in v1. 2022-06-24cifs: avoid deadlocks while updating ifaceShyam Prasad N2-15/+33
We use cifs_tcp_ses_lock to protect a lot of things. Not only does it protect the lists of connections, sessions, tree connects, open file lists, etc., we also use it to protect some fields in each of it's entries. In this case, cifs_mark_ses_for_reconnect takes the cifs_tcp_ses_lock to traverse the lists, and then calls cifs_update_iface. However, that can end up calling cifs_put_tcp_session, which picks up the same lock again. Avoid this by taking a ref for the session, drop the lock, and then call update iface. Also, in cifs_update_iface, avoid nested locking of iface_lock and chan_lock, as much as possible. When unavoidable, we need to pick iface_lock first. 2022-06-24USB: gadget: Fix double-free bug in raw_gadget driverAlan Stern1-6/+7
Re-reading a recently merged fix to the raw_gadget driver showed that it inadvertently introduced a double-free bug in a failure pathway. If raw_ioctl_init() encounters an error after the driver ID number has been allocated, it deallocates the ID number before returning. But when dev_free() runs later on, it will then try to deallocate the ID number a second time. Closely related to this issue is another error in the recent fix: The ID number is stored in the raw_dev structure before the code checks to see whether the structure has already been initialized, in which case the new ID number would overwrite the earlier value. The solution to both bugs is to keep the new ID number in a local variable, and store it in the raw_dev structure only after the check for prior initialization. No errors can occur after that point, so the double-free will never happen.
