2017-11-03platform/x86: intel_cht_int33fe: Update fusb302 type string, add propertiesHans de Goede2-2/+48
The fusb302 driver as merged in staging uses "typec_fusb302" as i2c-id rather then just "fusb302" and needs us to set a number of device- properties, adjust the intel_cht_int33fe driver accordingly. One of the properties set is max-snk-mv which makes the fusb302 driver negotiate up to 12V charging voltage, which is a bad idea on boards which are not setup to handle this, so this commit also adds 2 extra sanity checks to make sure that the expected Whiskey Cove PMIC + TI bq24292i charger combo, which can handle 12V, is present. 2017-11-03platform/x86: silead_dmi: Fix GP-electronic T701 entryHans de Goede1-0/+2
The GP-electronic T701 has its LCD panel mounted upside-down, initially my plan was to fix this by transparently rotating the image in the i915 driver (my "drm/i915: Deal with upside-down mounted LCD" patch), but that approach has been rejected instead the kernel will now export a "panel orientation" property on the drm-connector for the panel and let userspace deal with it. But userspace expects the touchscreen coordinates to match the panel coordinates *before* applying any rotation, so now that we no longer hide the upside-down-ness of the LCD panel from userspace the coordinates being generated are wrong and we need to apply a rotation of 180 degrees to the coordinates to fix this. 2017-10-30platform/x86: fujitsu-laptop: Fix radio LED detectionMichał Kępień1-5/+9
Radio LED detection method implemented in commit 4f62568c1fcf ("fujitsu-laptop: Support radio LED") turned out to be incorrect as it causes a radio LED to be erroneously detected on a Fujitsu Lifebook E751 which has a slide switch (and thus no radio LED). Use bit 17 of flags_supported (the value returned by method S000 of ACPI device FUJ02E3) to determine whether a radio LED is present as it seems to be a more reliable indicator, based on comparing DSDT tables of four Fujitsu Lifebook models (E744, E751, S7110, S8420). 2017-10-27platform/x86: hp_accel: Add quirk for HP ProBook 440 G4Osama Khan1-0/+1
Added support for HP ProBook 440 G4 laptops by including the accelerometer orientation quirk for that device. Testing was performed based on the axis orientation guidelines here: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/misc-devices/lis3lv02d which states "If the left side is elevated, X increases (becomes positive)". When tested, on lifting the left edge, x values became increasingly negative thus indicating an inverted x-axis on the installed lis3lv02d chip. This was compensated by adding an entry for this device in hp_accel.c specifying the quirk as x_inverted. The patch was tested on a ProBook 440 G4 device and x-axis as well as y and z-axis values are now generated as per spec. 2017-10-27platform/x86: intel_turbo_max_3: Add Skylake platformSrinivas Pandruvada1-0/+1
Ev Kontsevoy reported that he can't see the presence of "/proc/sys/kernel/sched_itmt_enabled" on i9-7900x with Asrock x299 Taichi system even if he enabled "Turbo 3.0" in the BIOS. The problem is that even if one core max is 200MHz more than others, the current implementation couldn't enumerate that with the way the system is configured. The system by default configured for legacy mode (no HWP or speed shift technology), in this mode only way we can enumerate via the mail box interface as implemented in this driver. We were planing to only use this driver for Broadwell, but we need to extend this because some Skylake system has same issue as Braodwell systems. On this system BIOS allows to change to HWP mode, where we expect that we can enumerate favored core with ACPI-CPPC. But on this system the core priority is 0xff for all cores in CPPC object. So this is not an option. Hence this change allows Skylake systems to be enumerate favored core similar to Broadwell in legacy mode. 2017-10-27i2c-cht-wc: Add device-properties for fusb302 integrationHans de Goede2-7/+49
Add device-properties to make the bq24292i charger connected to the bus get its input-current-limit from the fusb302 Type-C port controller which is used on boards with the cht-wc PMIC, as well as regulator_init_data for the 5V boost converter on the bq24292i. Since this means we now hook-up the bq24292i to the fusb302 Type-C port controller add a check for the ACPI device which instantiates the fusb302. 2017-10-27i2c: Allow overriding dev_name through board_infoHans de Goede2-2/+10
For devices not instantiated through ACPI the i2c-client's device-name gets set to <busnr>-<addr> by default, e.g. "0-0022" this means that the device-name is dependent on the order in which the i2c-busses are enumerated. In some cases having a predictable constant device-name is desirable, for example on non device-tree platforms the link between a regulator and its consumers is specified by the platform code by setting regulator_init_data.consumers. This array identifies the regulator's consumers by dev_name and supply(-name). Which requires a constant dev_name. This commit adds a dev_name field to i2c_board_info allowing platform code to set a contstant dev_name so that the device can be identified by its dev_name in other platform code. Currently, update_no_reboot_bit() function implemented in this driver uses mutex_lock() to protect its register updates. But this function is called with in atomic context in iTCO_wdt_start() and iTCO_wdt_stop() functions in iTCO_wdt.c driver, which in turn causes "sleeping into atomic context" issue. This patch fixes this issue by replacing the mutex_lock() with spin_lock() to protect the GCR read/write/update APIs. 2017-10-22stmmac: Don't access tx_q->dirty_tx before netif_tx_lockBernd Edlinger1-1/+2
This is the possible reason for different hard to reproduce problems on my ARMv7-SMP test system. The symptoms are in recent kernels imprecise external aborts, and in older kernels various kinds of network stalls and unexpected page allocation failures. My testing indicates that the trouble started between v4.5 and v4.6 and prevails up to v4.14. Using the dirty_tx before acquiring the spin lock is clearly wrong and was first introduced with v4.6. When syzkaller team brought us a C repro for the crash [1] that had been reported many times in the past, I finally could find the root cause. If FlowLabel info is merged by fl6_merge_options(), we leave part of the opt_space storage provided by udp/raw/l2tp with random value in opt_space.tot_len, unless a control message was provided at sendmsg() time. Then ip6_setup_cork() would use this random value to perform a kzalloc() call. Undefined behavior and crashes. Fix is to properly set tot_len in fl6_merge_options() At the same time, we can also avoid consuming memory and cpu cycles to clear it, if every option is copied via a kmemdup(). If an Ethernet PHY is initialized before the interrupt controller it is connected to, a message like the following is printed: irq: no irq domain found for /interrupt-controller@e61c0000 ! However, the actual error is ignored, leading to a non-functional (POLL) PHY interrupt later: Micrel KSZ8041RNLI ee700000.ethernet-ffffffff:01: attached PHY driver [Micrel KSZ8041RNLI] (mii_bus:phy_addr=ee700000.ethernet-ffffffff:01, irq=POLL) Depending on whether the PHY driver will fall back to polling, Ethernet may or may not work. To fix this: 1. Switch of_mdiobus_register_phy() from irq_of_parse_and_map() to of_irq_get(). Unlike the former, the latter returns -EPROBE_DEFER if the interrupt controller is not yet available, so this condition can be detected. Other errors are handled the same as before, i.e. use the passed mdio->irq[addr] as interrupt. 2. Propagate and handle errors from of_mdiobus_register_phy() and of_mdiobus_register_device(). Syzkaller stumbled upon a way to trigger WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 13881 at net/core/sock_reuseport.c:41 reuseport_alloc+0x306/0x3b0 net/core/sock_reuseport.c:39 There are two initialization paths for the sock_reuseport structure in a socket: Through the udp/tcp bind paths of SO_REUSEPORT sockets or through SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_[CE]BPF before bind. The existing implementation assumedthat the socket lock protected both of these paths when it actually only protects the SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT path. Syzkaller triggered this double allocation by running these paths concurrently. This patch moves the check for double allocation into the reuseport_alloc function which is protected by a global spin lock. 2017-10-22sock: correct sk_wmem_queued accounting on efault in tcp zerocopyWillem de Bruijn1-0/+4
Syzkaller hits WARN_ON(sk->sk_wmem_queued) in sk_stream_kill_queues after triggering an EFAULT in __zerocopy_sg_from_iter. On this error, skb_zerocopy_stream_iter resets the skb to its state before the operation with __pskb_trim. It cannot kfree_skb like datagram callers, as the skb may have data from a previous send call. __pskb_trim calls skb_condense for unowned skbs, which adjusts their truesize. These tcp skbuffs are owned and their truesize must add up to sk_wmem_queued. But they match because their skb->sk is NULL until tcp_transmit_skb. Temporarily set skb->sk when calling __pskb_trim to signal that the skbuffs are owned and avoid the skb_condense path. Alexander had a test program with direct packet access, where the access test was in the form of data + X > data_end. In an unrelated change to the program LLVM decided to swap the branches and emitted code for the test in form of data + X <= data_end. We hadn't seen these being generated previously, thus verifier would reject the program. Therefore, fix up the verifier to detect all test cases, so we don't run into such issues in the future. During review I noticed that the current logic for direct packet access marking in check_cond_jmp_op() has an off by one for the upper right range border when marking in find_good_pkt_pointers() with BPF_JLT and BPF_JLE. It's not really harmful given access up to pkt_end is always safe, but we should nevertheless correct the range marking before it becomes ABI. If pkt_data' denotes a pkt_data derived pointer (pkt_data + X), then for pkt_data' < pkt_end in the true branch as well as for pkt_end <= pkt_data' in the false branch we mark the range with X although it should really be X - 1 in these cases. For example, X could be pkt_end - pkt_data, then when testing for pkt_data' < pkt_end the verifier simulation cannot deduce that a byte load of pkt_data' - 1 would succeed in this branch. 2017-10-21cpu/hotplug: Reset node state after operationThomas Gleixner1-0/+5
The recent rework of the cpu hotplug internals changed the usage of the per cpu state->node field, but missed to clean it up after usage. So subsequent hotplug operations use the stale pointer from a previous operation and hand it into the callback functions. The callbacks then dereference a pointer which either belongs to a different facility or points to freed and potentially reused memory. In either case data corruption and crashes are the obvious consequence. Reset the node and the last pointers in the per cpu state to NULL after the operation which set them has completed. Default Tx rates cause very long ISR delays on Tx. 0xff is 510us delay, giving only ~ 2000 interrupts per seconds for Tx rings cleanup. With these settings udp tx rate was never higher than ~800Mbps on a single stream. Changing min delay to 0xF makes it way better with ~6Gbps TCP stream performance is almost unaffected by this change, since LSO optimizations play important role.
