people illegally replaced with their own fabrications. Use the correct
years when the original file was actually written and changed; the
original in part listed wrong years.
Some of the notices regarding later changes can be dropped because
none of the respective text remains.

VAX port. This means, 11/7xx, VAX6000 and VAX8x00 systems, as well as SBI,
CMI, BI, XMI and MASSBUS drivers.
Most of these files were not being compiled or kept in compilable state over
the years anyway.

to 8 bit mode operation, and no color or accelerated features until I can
find documentation about it.
Speed is decent by VAX standards, except for scrolling, which is so
abysmally slow one could see ZZ Top's beards growing while waiting for the
screen to scroll...

currently limited to serial console and a single processor working.
All ``on-board'' devices, including the Q-bus adapter, but except for
the frame buffer, are supported. The machine will boot over the network
or from SCSI devices.
Lots of thanks to Al Kossow for www.bitsavers.org, on which I found the
technical documentation allowing me to complete this port (which was
lacking at the time I got that machine...).

The anti-doping police (mickey@) says, with reason, that listing in
"SEE ALSO" devices that are already .Xr in the device list is overkill.
So trim these lists again.

than regular minutes):
- do not install manual pages covering hardware we do not currently support
- link autoconf(4)
- remove mtio(4), this is an mi page now
- do not link kUmem(4) -> mem(4) since there is no corresponding code. What
a joke.
- .Xr .Cd police
- intro(4) update, closer to reality

Among other things:
- keep phrasing consistent across arches
- put "see also" and "history" sections at the end
- add history sections to i386 which lacks it
- name gdt and ubsec on i386 (.It nothing is bad)
- try to improve the nice look of the supported device list.
- remove "unsupported device" section (sparc only) and "supported systems"
which is largealy out of date for, say, alpha, and completely off topic.
- correct /usr/adm/messages reference left in hp300 (gasp)
- provide intro(4) for sparc64.
Left to do:
- update supported device listings (even, create one for alpha).
- sprinkle .Tn macros where needed.
I wouldn't mind some help on this.

- Sort xrefs by section, and then alphabetically.
- Add missing commas between xref items.
- Remove commas from the last xref entry.
- Remove duplicate entries.
