The current power direction of an USB-C port also influences the
power_supply's online status, so a power role change should also update
the power_supply.
Fixes an issue on some systems where plugging in a normal USB device in
for the first time after a reboot will cause upower to erroneously
consider the system to be connected to AC power.

ucsi_psy_get_current_max would return 0mA as the maximum current if
UCSI detected a BC or a Default USB Power sporce.
The comment in this function is true that we can't tell the difference
between DCP/CDP or SDP chargers, but we can guarantee that at least 1-unit
of USB 1.1/2.0 power is available, which is 100mA, which is a better
fallback value than 0, which causes some userspaces, including the ChromeOS
power manager, to regard this as a power source that is not providing
any power.
In reality, 100mA is guaranteed from all sources in these classes.

cros_ec_ucsi fails to allocate a UCSI instance in it's probe function
because it does not define all operations checked by ucsi_create.
Update cros_ec_ucsi operations to use the same function for read_cci
and poll_cci.

On Qualcomm platforms DisplayPort driver expects to have a drm bridge in
the final device on the USB-C chain. Register the DRM HPD bridge in
order to fulfill this requirement and to send HPD events to the DRM
driver.

Parse USB / HPD messages from EC in order to set the orientation of the
corresponding Type-C port, letting connected USB 3 devices to enjoy
SuperSpeed connection rather than beign limited to HighSpeed only (if
the orientation didn't match).

On Lenovo Yoga C630 the EC handles GET_CURRENT_CAM command, but it
returns 1 if DisplayPort is active and 0 otherwise. However in order to
let UCSI drivers handle AltModes correctly, it should return 0 / 0xff.
Correct returned value.

EC firmware provides information about partner AltModes and handles the
DisplayPort AltMode internally, however it doesn't report AltModes of
the port to the host. Fake the DP AltMode for port0 in order to let
Linux bind displayport AltMode driver.

On Lenovo Yoga C630 the EC firmware is buggy and it cat return altmodes
for a device pushed into the port 0 (right) when the driver asks for
altmodes for port 1 (left). Since the left Type-C port doesn't support
DP anyway, ignore all UCSI_GET_ALTERNATE_MODES commands destined to the
port 1.

On Lenovo Yoga C630 the EC firmware is buggy and it returns duplicate
AltModes over and over again instead of returning an empty one, as
demanded by the spec. Ignore extra altmodes by zeroing them in the
update_altmodes() callback. It is not possible to shortcut that in the
sync_control() callback since we need to know if the AltMode matches the
first reported AltMode or not.

The update_altmodes() is executed only for connetor's AltModes, because
that's what required on the CCG platforms. Other platforms (like Lenovo
Yoga C630) requires similar fix for partner's AltModes. Extend
update_altmodes() callback to accept the recipient as an argument and
move corresponding check to the CCG UCSI driver.

Fix memory leak and call ucsi_destroy() from the driver's remove
function and probe's error path in order to remove debugfs files and

Pull USB / Thunderbolt updates from Greg KH:
"Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt changes for 6.16-rc1.
Included in here are the following:
- USB offload support for audio devices.
I think this takes the record for the most number of patch series
(30+) over the longest period of time (2+ years) to get merged
properly.
Many props go to Wesley Cheng for seeing this effort through, they
took a major out-of-tree hacked-up-monstrosity that was created by
multiple vendors for their specific devices, got it all merged into
a semi-coherent set of changes, and got all of the different major
subsystems to agree on how this should be implemented both with
changes to their code as well as userspace apis, AND wrangled the
hardware companies into agreeing to go forward with this, despite
making them all redo work they had already done in their private
device trees.
This feature offers major power savings on embedded devices where a
USB audio stream can continue to flow while the rest of the system
is sleeping, something that devices running on battery power really
care about. There are still some more small tweaks left to be done
here, and those patches are still out for review and arguing among
the different hardware companies, but this is a major step forward
and a great example of how to do upstream development well.
- small number of thunderbolt fixes and updates, things seem to be
slowing down here (famous last words...)
- xhci refactors and reworking to try to handle some rough corner
cases in some hardware implementations where things don't always
work properly
- typec driver updates
- USB3 power management reworking and updates
- Removal of some old and orphaned UDC gadget drivers that had not
been used in a very long time, dropping over 11 thousand lines from
the tree, always a nice thing, making up for the 12k lines added
for the USB offload feature.
- lots of little updates and fixes in different drivers
All of these have been in linux-next for over 2 weeks, the USB offload
logic has been in there for 8 weeks now, with no reported issues"

Commit aa7a9275ab81 ("PM: sleep: Suspend async parents after suspending
children") had triggered a suspend issue on Tegra boards because it had
reordered the syspend of devices with async suspend enabled with respect
to some other devices. Specifically, the devices with async suspend
enabled that have no children are now suspended before any other devices
unless there are device links pointing to them as suppliers.
The investigation that followed the failure report uncovered that async
suspend was enabled for the cypd4226 device that was a Type-C controller
with a dependency on USB PHY and it turned out that disabling async
suspend for that device made the issue go away. Since async suspend
takes dependencies between parents and children into account as well
as other dependencies between devices represented by device links, this
means that the cypd4226 has a dependency on another device that is
not represented in any form in the kernel (a "hidden" dependency), in
which case async suspend should not be enabled for it.
Accordingly, make ucsi_ccg_probe() disable async suspend for the
devices handled by, which covers the cypd4226 device on the Tegra
boards as well as other devices likely to have similar "hidden"
dependencies.

This patch introduces the ucsi_con_mutex_lock / ucsi_con_mutex_unlock
functions to the UCSI driver. ucsi_con_mutex_lock ensures the connector
mutex is only locked if a connection is established and the partner pointer
is valid. This resolves a deadlock scenario where
ucsi_displayport_remove_partner holds con->mutex waiting for
dp_altmode_work to complete while dp_altmode_work attempts to acquire it.

During ucsi_cmd() we see:

To fix this make the "status" of type int since ret is also of type int.

have been destroyed.

If no fw_build is recognized for the controller there is no point to
exposing the `do_flash` attribute.
Add an is_visible callback to the attribute group and check for that
fw_build member to hide when not applicable.

The error `failed to get FW build information` is added for what looks
to be for misdetection of the device property firmware-name.
If the property is missing (such as on non-nvidia HW) this error shows up.
Move the error into the scope of the property parser for "firmware-name"
to avoid showing errors on systems without the firmware-name property.

It is observed that on some systems an initial PPM reset during the boot
phase can trigger a timeout:

Still, increasing the timeout value, albeit being the most straightforward
solution, eliminates the problem: the initial PPM reset may take up to
~8000-10000ms on some Lenovo laptops. When it is reset after the above
period of time (or even if ucsi_reset_ppm() is not called overall), UCSI
works as expected.
Moreover, if the ucsi_acpi module is loaded/unloaded manually after the
system has booted, reading the CCI values and resetting the PPM works
perfectly, without any timeout. Thus it's only a boot-time issue.
The reason for this behavior is not clear but it may be the consequence
of some tricks that the firmware performs or be an actual firmware bug.
As a workaround, increase the timeout to avoid failing the UCSI
initialization prematurely.

For the ACPI backend of UCSI the UCSI "registers" are just a memory copy
of the register values in an opregion. The ACPI implementation in the
BIOS ensures that the opregion contents are synced to the embedded
controller and it ensures that the registers (in particular CCI) are
synced back to the opregion on notifications. While there is an ACPI call
that syncs the actual registers to the opregion there is rarely a need to
do this and on some ACPI implementations it actually breaks in various
interesting ways.
The only reason to force a sync from the embedded controller is to poll
CCI while notifications are disabled. Only the ucsi core knows if this
is the case and guessing based on the current command is suboptimal, i.e.
leading to the following spurious assertion splat:

Thus introduce a ->poll_cci() method that works like ->read_cci() with an
additional forced sync and document that this should be used when polling
with notifications disabled. For all other backends that presumably don't
have this issue use the same implementation for both methods.

A manual EC sysjump will restart the PPM and break communication with
the UCSI driver by disabling notifications in the initial PPM state.
Update cros_ec_ucsi to listen for PPM init events and treat them as a
system resume to re-establish communication with the PPM (ChromeOS EC).

Some of the drivers emulate or handle some of the commands in the
platform-specific way. The code ends up being split between several
callbacks, which complicates emulation.
In preparation to reworking such drivers, move read_cci() and
read_message_in() calls into ucsi_sync_control_common().

The current implementation of the ucsi glink client connector_status()
callback is only relying on the state of the gpio. This means that even
when the cable is unplugged, the orientation propagated to the switches
along the graph is "orientation normal", instead of "orientation none",
which would be the correct one in this case.
One of the Qualcomm DP-USB PHY combo drivers, which needs to be aware of
the orientation change, is relying on the "orientation none" to skip
the reinitialization of the entire PHY. Since the ucsi glink client
advertises "orientation normal" even when the cable is unplugged, the
mentioned PHY is taken down and reinitialized when in fact it should be
left as-is. This triggers a crash within the displayport controller driver
in turn, which brings the whole system down on some Qualcomm platforms.
Propagating "orientation none" from the ucsi glink client on the
connector_status() callback hides the problem of the mentioned PHY driver
away for now. But the "orientation none" is nonetheless the correct one
to be used in this case.
So propagate the "orientation none" instead when the connector status
flags says cable is disconnected.

Similar to commit 65c4c9447bfc ("usb: typec: ucsi: Fix a missing bits to
bytes conversion in ucsi_init()"), there was a missing conversion from
bits to bytes. Here the outcome is worse though: since the value is
lower than UCSI_MAX_DATA_LENGTH, instead of bailing out with an error,
it writes past the buffer size.
The error is then seen in other places like below:

When the PPM receives command from the OPM (p.1) it sets the busy bit
in the CCI (p.2), sends notification to the OPM (p.3) and forwards the
command to be executed by the LPM (p.4). When the PPM receives command
completion from the LPM (p.5) it sets command completion bit in the CCI
(p.6) and sends notification to the OPM (p.7). If command execution by
the LPM is fast enough then when the OPM starts handling the notification
from p.3 in p.8 and reads the CCI value it will see command completion bit
set and will call complete(). Then complete() might be called again when
the OPM handles notification from p.7.
This fix replaces test_bit() with test_and_clear_bit()
in ucsi_notify_common() in order to call complete() only
once per request.
This fix also reinitializes completion variable in
ucsi_sync_control_common() before a command is sent.

The "command" variable can be controlled by the user via debugfs. The
worry is that if con_index is zero then "&uc->ucsi->connector[con_index
- 1]" would be an array underflow.

The GET_CAPABILITY size is wrong. The definitions for the
command sizes are for bitfieds and therefore in bits, not
bytes.
This fixes an issue that prevents the interface from being
registered with UCSI versions older than 2.0 because the
command size exceeds the MESSAGE_IN field size.

Instead of checking if any of the USB-C ports have orientation GPIO and
thus is orientation-aware, check for the GPIO for the port being
registered. There are no boards that are affected by this change at this
moment, so the patch is not marked as a fix, but it might affect other
boards in future.
