Drop the 'experimental' annotations. The only remaining part of the API that is still marked 'experimental' are the debug ioctls/structs, and that is intentional. Only the v4l2-dbg application should use those. All others have been around for years, so it is time to drop the 'experimental' designation. SDR receiver has ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) and SDR transmitter has DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter). Originally I though it could be good idea to have own type for receiver and transmitter, but now I feel one common type for SDR is enough. So lets rename it. It always annoyed me that the event type documentation was separate from the struct v4l2_event documentation. This patch moves it all to one place, VIDIOC_DQEVENT. This makes much more sense. Also changed the 'changes-flags' ref to 'ctrl-changes-flags' since this referred to control changes. There is a src-changes-flags as well, so 'changes-flags' was a bit vague. This patch adds a helper function that allows to modify range, i.e. minimum, maximum, step and default value of a v4l2 control, after the control has been created and initialized. This is helpful in situations when range of a control depends on user configurable parameters, e.g. camera sensor absolute exposure time depending on an output image resolution and frame rate. v4l2_ctrl_modify_range() function allows to modify range of an INTEGER, BOOL, MENU, INTEGER_MENU and BITMASK type controls. This patch adds new V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M and V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M_MPLANE capability flags that are intended to be used for memory-to-memory (M2M) devices, instead of ORed V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_CAPTURE and V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_OUTPUT. V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M flag is added at the drivers, CAPTURE and OUTPUT capability flags are left untouched and will be removed in future, after a transition period required for existing applications to be adapted to check only for V4L2_CAP_VIDEO_M2M. Both V4L2 and V4L2 subdev interface have very similar selection APIs with differences foremost related to in-memory and media bus formats. However, the selection targets are the same for both. Most targets are and in the future will likely continue to be more the same than with any differences. Thus it makes sense to unify the documentation of the targets. 2012-01-23[media] V4L2: Add per-device-node capabilitiesHans Verkuil1-0/+4
If V4L2_CAP_DEVICE_CAPS is set, then the new device_caps field is filled with the capabilities of the opened device node. The capabilities field traditionally contains the capabilities of the physical device, being a superset of all capabilities available at the several device nodes. E.g., if you open /dev/video0, then if it contains VBI caps then that means that there is a corresponding vbi node as well. And the capabilities field of both the video and vbi nodes should contain identical caps. However, it would be very useful to also have a capabilities field that contains just the caps for the currently open device, hence the new CAP bit and field. The V4L2_CID_ALPHA_COMPONENT control is intended for the video capture or memory-to-memory devices that are capable of setting up the per-pixel alpha component to some arbitrary value. It allows to set the alpha component for all pixels to an arbitrary value.
