Older versions of binutils (prior to 2.24) do not support the "ISHLD"
option for memory barrier instructions, which leads to a build failure
when assembling the vdso32 library.
Add a compilation time mechanism that detects if binutils supports those
instructions and configure the kernel accordingly.

The .config file and the generated include/config/auto.conf can
end up out of sync after a set of commands since
CONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT_VDSO is not updated correctly.
The sequence can be reproduced as follows:
$ make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- defconfig
[...]
$ make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- menuconfig
[set CONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT_VDSO="arm-linux-gnueabihf-"]
$ make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu-
Which results in:
arch/arm64/Makefile:62: CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT not defined or empty,
the compat vDSO will not be built
even though the compat vDSO has been built:
$ file arch/arm64/kernel/vdso32/vdso.so
arch/arm64/kernel/vdso32/vdso.so: ELF 32-bit LSB pie executable, ARM,
EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked,
BuildID[sha1]=c67f6c786f2d2d6f86c71f708595594aa25247f6, stripped
A similar case that involves changing the configuration parameter
multiple times can be reconducted to the same family of problems.
Remove the use of CONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT_VDSO altogether and
instead rely on the cross-compiler prefix coming from the environment
via CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT, much like we do for the rest of the kernel.

When detecting a spurious EL1 translation fault, we attempt to compare
ESR_EL1.DFSC with PAR_EL1.FST. We erroneously use FIELD_PREP() to
extract PAR_EL1.FST, when we should be using FIELD_GET().
In the wise words of Robin Murphy:
| FIELD_GET() is a UBFX, FIELD_PREP() is a BFI
Using FIELD_PREP() means that that dfsc & ESR_ELx_FSC_TYPE is always
zero, and hence not equal to ESR_ELx_FSC_FAULT. Thus we detect any
unhandled translation fault as spurious.
... so let's use FIELD_GET() to ensure we don't decide all translation
faults are spurious. ESR_EL1.DFSC occupies bits [5:0], and requires no
shifting.

arch/s390/kvm/kvm-s390.c calls on several places __cpacf_query() directly,
which makes it impossible to meet the "i" constraint for the asm operands

As we are now force-enabling CONFIG_OPTIMIZE_INLINING on all
architectures, this causes a build failure on s390:

INTEL_PMC_MAX_GENERIC is currently 32, which exceeds the 18

Since some machines actually have MSRs past the reserved range,

CPUs affected by Neoverse-N1 #1542419 may execute a stale instruction if
it was recently modified. The affected sequence requires freshly written
instructions to be executable before a branch to them is updated.
There are very few places in the kernel that modify executable text,
all but one come with sufficient synchronisation:
* The module loader's flush_module_icache() calls flush_icache_range(),
which does a kick_all_cpus_sync()
* bpf_int_jit_compile() calls flush_icache_range().
* Kprobes calls aarch64_insn_patch_text(), which does its work in
stop_machine().
* static keys and ftrace both patch between nops and branches to
existing kernel code (not generated code).
The affected sequence is the interaction between ftrace and modules.
The module PLT is cleaned using __flush_icache_range() as the trampoline
shouldn't be executable until we update the branch to it.
Drop the double-underscore so that this path runs kick_all_cpus_sync()
too.

Commit bd82d4bd2188 ("arm64: Fix incorrect irqflag restore for priority
masking") added a macro to the entry.S call paths that leave the
PSTATE.I bit set. This tells the pPNMI masking logic that interrupts
are masked by the CPU, not by the PMR. This value is read back by
local_daif_save().
Commit bd82d4bd2188 added this call to el0_svc, as el0_svc_handler
is called with interrupts masked. el0_svc_compat was missed, but should
be covered in the same way as both of these paths end up in
el0_svc_common(), which expects to unmask interrupts.

If we take an unhandled fault in the kernel, we call show_pte() to dump
the {PGDP,PGD,PUD,PMD,PTE} values for the corresponding page table walk,
where the PGDP value is virt_to_phys(mm->pgd).
The boot-time and runtime kernel page tables, init_pg_dir and
swapper_pg_dir respectively, are kernel symbols. Thus, it is not valid
to call virt_to_phys() on either of these, though we'll do so if we take
a fault on a TTBR1 address.
When CONFIG_DEBUG_VIRTUAL is not selected, virt_to_phys() will silently
fix this up. However, when CONFIG_DEBUG_VIRTUAL is selected, this
results in splats as below. Depending on when these occur, they can
happen to suppress information needed to debug the original unhandled
fault, such as the backtrace:

The HWCAP framework will detect a new capability based on the sanitized
version of the ID registers.
Sanitization is based on a whitelist, so any field not described will end
up to be zeroed.
At the moment, ID_AA64ISAR1_EL1.FRINTTS is not described in
ftr_id_aa64isar1. This means the field will be zeroed and therefore the
userspace will not be able to see the HWCAP even if the hardware
supports the feature.
This can be fixed by describing the field in ftr_id_aa64isar1.

As of ac7c3e4ff401 ("compiler: enable CONFIG_OPTIMIZE_INLINING forcibly"),
inline functions are no longer annotated with '__always_inline', which
allows the compiler to decide whether inlining is really a good idea or
not. Although this is a great idea on paper, the reality is that AArch64
GCC prior to 9.1 has been shown to get confused when creating an
out-of-line copy of a function passing explicit 'register' variables
into an inline assembly block:
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=91111
It's not clear whether this is specific to arm64 or not but, for now,
ensure that all of our functions using 'register' variables are marked
as '__always_inline' so that the old behaviour is effectively preserved.
Hopefully other architectures are luckier with their compilers.

The Rio500 kernel driver has not been used by Rio500 owners since 2001
not long after the rio500 project added support for a user-space USB stack
through the very first versions of usbdevfs and then libusb.
Support for the kernel driver was removed from the upstream utilities
in 2008:

Fixes for omaps for v5.4-rc cycle
Here are fixes for omaps to deal with few regressions, and to fix
more boot time errors and warnings:
- The recent ti-sysc interconnect target module driver changes had
incorrect clock bits for both clocks and dts that cause warnings
- For omap3-gta04, gpio changes caused the LCD to break a while back,
and after discussing things the right fix is to set spi-cs-high
- Recent omapdrm changes to use generic panels caused tfp410 to be
disabled as we now must enable the generic support for it in
defconfig
- Recent omapdrm and backlight changes also finally made droid4 LCD
to work, so let's enable it in the defconfig it can be used out
of the box. This is not strictly a fix, but we still also have the
older CONFIG_MFD_TI_LMU options available so this cuts down the
confusion for trying to guess which display and which backlight
is needed
- Recent ti-sysc interconnect target module changes need the gpio
module disabled on some boards, but this now needs to happen at
the module level, not at the gpio driver level
- Recent changes to probe system timers with ti-sysc caused warnings
about mismatch in syconfig registers, so let's configure the option
for RESET_STATUS as available in the TRMs
- Recent changes to probe LCDC with ti-sysc caused warnings about
mismatch in sysconfig registers, so let's configure the missing
idlemodes for both platform data and dts as documented in TRMs
- Since we moved mach-omap2 to probe with device tree, we've been
getting voltage controller warnings. Turns out this code is no
longer needed, so let's just remove omap2_set_init_voltage() to
get rid of the pointless warnings
- Configure am4372 dispc memory bandwidth to avoid underflow errors

Current versions of Intel's SDM incorrectly state that "bits 31:15 of
the VM-Entry exception error-code field" must be zero. In reality, bits
31:16 must be zero, i.e. error codes are 16-bit values.
The bogus error code check manifests as an unexpected VM-Entry failure
due to an invalid code field (error number 7) in L1, e.g. when injecting
a #GP with error_code=0x9f00.
Nadav previously reported the bug[*], both to KVM and Intel, and fixed
the associated kvm-unit-test.

INTEL_PMC_MAX_GENERIC is currently 32, which exceeds the 18 contiguous
MSR indices reserved by Intel for event selectors. Since some machines
actually have MSRs past the reserved range, these may survive the
filtering of msrs_to_save array and would be rejected by KVM_GET/SET_MSR.
To avoid this, cut the list to whatever CPUID reports for the host's

On some SGI machines (IP28 and IP30) a small region of memory is mirrored
to pyhsical address 0 for exception vectors while rest of the memory
is reachable at a higher physical address. ARC PROM marks this
region as reserved, but with commit a94e4f24ec83 ("MIPS: init: Drop
boot_mem_map") this chunk is used, when searching for start of ram,
which breaks at least IP28 and IP30 machines. To fix this
add_region_memory() checks for start address < PHYS_OFFSET and ignores
these chunks.

Versions of binutils prior to 2.25 are unable to link our VDSO due to an
unsupported R_MIPS_PC32 relocation generated by the ".word _start - ."
line of the inline asm in get_vdso_base(). As such, the intent is that
when building with binutils older than 2.25 we don't build code for
gettimeofday() & friends in the VDSO that rely upon get_vdso_base().
Commit 24640f233b46 ("mips: Add support for generic vDSO") converted us
to using generic VDSO infrastructure, and as part of that the
gettimeofday() functionality moved to a new vgettimeofday.c file. The
check for binutils < 2.25 wasn't updated to handle this new filename,
and so it continues trying to remove the old unused filename from the
build. The end result is that we try to include the gettimeofday() code
in builds that will fail to link.
Fix this by updating the binutils < 2.25 case to remove vgettimeofday.c
from obj-vdso-y, rather than gettimeofday.c.

Commit 171a9bae68c7 ("staging/octeon: Allow test build on !MIPS") moved
the inclusion of a bunch of headers by various files in the Octeon
ethernet driver into a common header, but in doing so it changed the
order in which those headers are included.
Prior to the referenced commit drivers/staging/octeon/ethernet.c

Today the EFI runtime functions are setup in architecture specific
code (x86 and arm), with the functions themselves living in drivers/xen
as they are not architecture dependent.
As the setup is exactly the same for arm and x86 move the setup to
drivers/xen, too. This at once removes the need to make the single
functions global visible.

This fixes an error with how the FDT blob is reserved in memblock.
An incorrect physical address calculation exposed the FDT header to
unintended corruption, which typically manifested with of_fdt_raw_init()
faulting during late boot after fdt_totalsize() returned a wrong value.
Systems with smaller physical memory sizes more frequently trigger this
issue, as the kernel is more likely to allocate from the DMA32 zone
where bbl places the DTB after the kernel image.
Commit 671f9a3e2e24 ("RISC-V: Setup initial page tables in two stages")
changed the mapping of the DTB to reside in the fixmap area.
Consequently, early_init_fdt_reserve_self() cannot be used anymore in
setup_bootmem() since it relies on __pa() to derive a physical address,
which does not work with dtb_early_va that is no longer a valid kernel
logical address.
The reserved[0x1] region shows the effect of the pointer underflow
resulting from the __pa(initial_boot_params) offset subtraction:
