2022-11-02mISDN: fix possible memory leak in mISDN_register_device()Yang Yingliang1-2/+3
Afer commit 1fa5ae857bb1 ("driver core: get rid of struct device's bus_id string array"), the name of device is allocated dynamically, add put_device() to give up the reference, so that the name can be freed in kobject_cleanup() when the refcount is 0. Set device class before put_device() to avoid null release() function WARN message in device_release(). 2022-09-30mISDN: fix use-after-free bugs in l1oip timer handlersDuoming Zhou2-6/+8
The l1oip_cleanup() traverses the l1oip_ilist and calls release_card() to cleanup module and stack. However, release_card() calls del_timer() to delete the timers such as keep_tl and timeout_tl. If the timer handler is running, the del_timer() will not stop it and result in UAF bugs. One of the processes is shown below: (cleanup routine) | (timer handler) release_card() | l1oip_timeout() ... | del_timer() | ... ... | kfree(hc) //FREE | | hc->timeout_on = 0 //USE Fix by calling del_timer_sync() in release_card(), which makes sure the timer handlers have finished before the resources, such as l1oip and so on, have been deallocated. What's more, the hc->workq and hc->socket_thread can kick those timers right back in. We add a bool flag to show if card is released. Then, check this flag in hc->workq and hc->socket_thread. 2022-04-06net: remove noblock parameter from skb_recv_datagram()Oliver Hartkopp1-1/+1
skb_recv_datagram() has two parameters 'flags' and 'noblock' that are merged inside skb_recv_datagram() by 'flags | (noblock ? MSG_DONTWAIT : 0)' As 'flags' may contain MSG_DONTWAIT as value most callers split the 'flags' into 'flags' and 'noblock' with finally obsolete bit operations like this: skb_recv_datagram(sk, flags & ~MSG_DONTWAIT, flags & MSG_DONTWAIT, &rc); And this is not even done consistently with the 'flags' parameter. This patch removes the obsolete and costly splitting into two parameters and only performs bit operations when really needed on the caller side. One missing conversion thankfully reported by kernel test robot. I missed to enable kunit tests to build the mctp code. dsp_pipeline_build() allocates dup pointer by kstrdup(cfg), but then it updates dup variable by strsep(&dup, "|"). As a result when it calls kfree(dup), the dup variable contains NULL. The mISDN driver was added on those commits: 960366cf8dbb ("Add mISDN DSP") 1b2b03f8e514 ("Add mISDN core files") 04578dd330f1 ("Define AF_ISDN and PF_ISDN") e4ac9bc1f668 ("Add mISDN driver") None of them added a Documentation/isdn/mISDN.cert file. Also, whatever were supposed to be written there on that time, probably doesn't make any sense nowadays, as I doubt isdn would have any massive changes. So, let's just get rid of the broken reference, in order to shut up a warning produced by ./scripts/documentation-file-ref-check. 2019-05-22mISDN: make sure device name is NUL terminatedDan Carpenter1-2/+3
The user can change the device_name with the IMSETDEVNAME ioctl, but we need to ensure that the user's name is NUL terminated. Otherwise it could result in a buffer overflow when we copy the name back to the user with IMGETDEVINFO ioctl. I also changed two strcpy() calls which handle the name to strscpy(). Hopefully, there aren't any other ways to create a too long name, but it's nice to do this as a kernel hardening measure. As part of y2038 solution, all internal uses of struct timeval are replaced by struct __kernel_old_timeval and struct compat_timeval by struct old_timeval32. In the iov_iter struct, separate the iterator type from the iterator direction and use accessor functions to access them in most places. Convert a bunch of places to use switch-statements to access them rather then chains of bitwise-AND statements. This makes it easier to add further iterator types. Also, this can be more efficient as to implement a switch of small contiguous integers, the compiler can use ~50% fewer compare instructions than it has to use bitwise-and instructions. Further, cease passing the iterator type into the iterator setup function. The iterator function can set that itself. Only the direction is required. The root cause is that the _IOC macro can generate really large numbers, which don't find into type int. My research into how GCC and Clang are handling this at a low level didn't prove fruitful and surveying the kernel tree shows that aside from here and a few places in the scsi subsystem, everything that uses _IOC is at least of type 'unsigned int'. Make that change here because as nothing in this function cares about the signedness of the variable and it removes ambiguity, which is never good when dealing with compilers. While we're here, remove the unnecessary local variable ret (just return -EINVAL and 0 directly). 2018-06-28Revert changes to convert to ->poll_mask() and aio IOCB_CMD_POLLLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
The poll() changes were not well thought out, and completely unexplained. They also caused a huge performance regression, because "->poll()" was no longer a trivial file operation that just called down to the underlying file operations, but instead did at least two indirect calls. Indirect calls are sadly slow now with the Spectre mitigation, but the performance problem could at least be largely mitigated by changing the "->get_poll_head()" operation to just have a per-file-descriptor pointer to the poll head instead. That gets rid of one of the new indirections. But that doesn't fix the new complexity that is completely unwarranted for the regular case. The (undocumented) reason for the poll() changes was some alleged AIO poll race fixing, but we don't make the common case slower and more complex for some uncommon special case, so this all really needs way more explanations and most likely a fundamental redesign. "int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value it does not need. None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it. This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success, return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated from an error. Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed. rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently not used in any way. NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost". For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.
