2021-05-10media: am437x: fix pm_runtime_get_sync() usage countMauro Carvalho Chehab1-2/+13
The pm_runtime_get_sync() internally increments the dev->power.usage_count without decrementing it, even on errors. Replace it by the new pm_runtime_resume_and_get(), introduced by: commit dd8088d5a896 ("PM: runtime: Add pm_runtime_resume_and_get to deal with usage counter") in order to properly decrement the usage counter, avoiding a potential PM usage counter leak. While here, ensure that the driver will check if PM runtime resumed at vpfe_initialize_device(). 2021-02-06media: v4l2-async: Improve v4l2_async_notifier_add_*_subdev() APILaurent Pinchart1-1/+1
The functions that add an async subdev to an async subdev notifier take as an argument the size of the container structure they need to allocate. This is error prone, as passing an invalid size will not be caught by the compiler. Wrap those functions in macros that take a container type instead of a size, and cast the returned pointer to the desired type. The compiler will catch mistakes if the incorrect type is passed to the macro, as the assignment types won't match. 2020-03-12media: am437x-vpfe: exclude illegal values for enum when validing params from user spaceChangming Liu1-0/+1
When calling ccdc_data_size_max_bit() to validate data_sz in vpfe_ccdc_validate_param(), it's treated as an enumeration ranging from 0 to 7 while essentially it's an 32 bit unsigned integer directly from user space. This can make the return value of ccdc_data_size_max_bit() underflow and bypass the following check. To fix this, an additional check is added to the following if clause to keep this enumaration variable in range. And if its value is not legal, return -EINVAL properly. 2019-10-01media: am437x-vpfe: TRY_FMT ioctl is not really trying anythingBenoit Parrot1-169/+169
The try_fmt was not actually trying out the provided format but merely returning the current format basically like get_fmt. In addition set_fmt should first invoked try_fmt to validate the given format before applying it to the hardware. To fix all of these the whole get/try/set ioctl functions had to be reworked. When calculating the bytesperline/stride and sizeimage format member we don't need to locally store the current value of bytesperpixel as it can easily get derived dynamically. 2019-10-01media: am437x-vpfe: Wait for end of frame before tear-downBenoit Parrot1-26/+26
We were originally attempting to stop all processing as soon as possible, but the in-progress DMA operation cannot be canceled. This led to the module being in a busy state and prevented proper power management functionality. The existing implementation would attempt to clean things up by waiting up to 50ms. However when receiving video frame at 15fps or lower, it meant an inter frame arrival rate of 66.6 ms or higher. In such cases upon tear down the following message could be seen: omap_hwmod: vpfe0: _wait_target_disable failed This patch fixes this issue by adding a stopping state where we would wait for the next Vsync before disabling the hardware. Currently if vpfe is not active then it returns immediately in the suspend and resume handlers. Change this so that it always performs the pinctrl config so that we can still get proper sleep state configuration on the pins even if we do not need to worry about fully saving and restoring context. 2019-07-25media: v4l2-async: Get fwnode reference when putting it to the notifier's listSakari Ailus1-3/+2
The v4l2_async_notifier_add_fwnode_subdev() did not take a reference of the added fwnode, relying on the caller to handle that instead, in essence putting the fwnode to be added if there was an error. As the reference is eventually released during the notifier cleanup, this is not intuitive nor logical. Improve this by always getting a reference when the function succeeds, and the caller releasing the reference when it does not *itself* need it anymore. Luckily, perhaps, there were just a handful of callers using the function. If g_selection is implemented, then the v4l2-ioctl cropcap code assumes that cropcap just implements the pixelaspect part and that g_selection provides the crop bounds and default rectangles. There are still some drivers that only implement cropcap and not g_selection. Split up cropcap into a cropcap and g_selection for those drivers. 2018-10-04media: platform: Switch to v4l2_async_notifier_add_subdevSteve Longerbeam1-39/+43
Switch all media platform drivers to call v4l2_async_notifier_add_subdev() to add asd's to a notifier, in place of referencing the notifier->subdevs[] array. These drivers also must now call v4l2_async_notifier_init() before adding asd's to their notifiers. There may still be cases where a platform driver maintains a list of asd's that is a duplicate of the notifier asd_list, in which case its possible the platform driver list can be removed, and can reference the notifier asd_list instead. One example of where a duplicate list has been removed in this patch is xilinx-vipp.c. If there are such cases remaining, those drivers should be optimized to remove the duplicate platform driver asd lists. None of the changes to the platform drivers in this patch have been tested. Verify that the async subdevices needed by the platform are bound at load time, and that the driver unloads and reloads correctly with no memory leaking of asd objects. The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...". The V4L2_ASYNC_MATCH_FWNODE match criteria requires just one struct to be filled (struct fwnode_handle). The V4L2_ASYNC_MATCH_DEVNAME match criteria requires just a device name. So, it doesn't make sense to enclose those into structs, as the criteria can go directly into the union. That makes easier to document it, as we don't need to document weird senseless structs. At drivers, this makes even clearer about the match criteria. The async subdev notifier .bound(), .unbind() and .complete() operations are function pointers stored directly in the v4l2_async_subdev structure. As the structure isn't immutable, this creates a potential security risk as the function pointers are mutable. To fix this, move the function pointers to a new v4l2_async_subdev_operations structure that can be made const in drivers. In vpfe_s_fmt(), when the sensor format and the requested format were the same, bpp was assigned to vpfe->bpp without being initialized first. Grab the bpp value that is currently used by using __vpfe_get_format() instead of its wrapper, vpfe_try_fmt(). This use of uninitialized variable has been found by compiling the kernel with clang. Make this a proper typed array. Drop the old allocate context code since that is no longer used. 2015-12-18[media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setupHans Verkuil1-8/+9
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2 and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format. After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer, which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format. To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed: the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array contains the requested sizes.
