2021-09-04qlcnic: Remove redundant unlock in qlcnic_pinit_from_romDinghao Liu1-1/+0
Previous commit 68233c583ab4 removes the qlcnic_rom_lock() in qlcnic_pinit_from_rom(), but remains its corresponding unlock function, which is odd. I'm not very sure whether the lock is missing, or the unlock is redundant. This bug is suggested by a static analysis tool, please advise. The 'imply' keyword does not do what most people think it does, it only politely asks Kconfig to turn on another symbol, but does not prevent it from being disabled manually or built as a loadable module when the user is built-in. I'm providing a link to the previous email thread for reference, which discusses some related problems. To solve the dependency issue better than the 'imply' keyword, introduce a separate Kconfig symbol "CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK_OPTIONAL" that any driver can depend on if it is able to use PTP support when available, but works fine without it. Whenever CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK=m, those drivers are then prevented from being built-in, the same way as with a 'depends on PTP_1588_CLOCK || !PTP_1588_CLOCK' dependency that does the same trick, but that can be rather confusing when you first see it. Since this should cover the dependencies correctly, the IS_REACHABLE() hack in the header is no longer needed now, and can be turned back into a normal IS_ENABLED() check. Any driver that gets the dependency wrong will now cause a link time failure rather than being unable to use PTP support when that is in a loadable module. However, the two recently added ptp_get_vclocks_index() and ptp_convert_timestamp() interfaces are only called from builtin code with ethtool and socket timestamps, so keep the current behavior by stubbing those out completely when PTP is in a loadable module. This should be addressed properly in a follow-up. As Richard suggested, we may want to actually turn PTP support into a 'bool' option later on, preventing it from being a loadable module altogether, which would be one way to solve the problem with the ethtool interface. All kernel devlink implementations call to devlink_alloc() during initialization routine for specific device which is used later as a parent device for devlink_register(). Such late device assignment causes to the situation which requires us to call to device_register() before setting other parameters, but that call opens devlink to the world and makes accessible for the netlink users. Any attempt to move devlink_register() to be the last call generates the following error due to access to the devlink->dev pointer. A crash has been observed if rmmod is done while automatic debug collection in progress. It is due to a race condition between both of them. To fix stop the sp_task during unload to avoid running qede_sp_task even if they are schedule during removal process. Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands. When calling the 'ql_wait_for_drvr_lock' and 'ql_adapter_reset', the driver has already acquired the spin lock, so the driver should not call 'ssleep' in atomic context. 2021-06-24qede: Remove rcu_read_lock() around XDP program invocationToke Høiland-Jørgensen1-6/+0
The qede driver has rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pairs around XDP program invocations. However, the actual lifetime of the objects referred by the XDP program invocation is longer, all the way through to the call to xdp_do_flush(), making the scope of the rcu_read_lock() too small. This turns out to be harmless because it all happens in a single NAPI poll cycle (and thus under local_bh_disable()), but it makes the rcu_read_lock() misleading. Rather than extend the scope of the rcu_read_lock(), just get rid of it entirely. With the addition of RCU annotations to the XDP_REDIRECT map types that take bh execution into account, lockdep even understands this to be safe, so there's really no reason to keep it around. The source (&dcbx_info->operational.params) and dest (&p_hwfn->p_dcbx_info->set.config.params) are both struct qed_dcbx_params (560 bytes), not struct qed_dcbx_admin_params (564 bytes), which is used as the memcpy() size. However it seems that struct qed_dcbx_operational_params (dcbx_info->operational)'s layout matches struct qed_dcbx_admin_params (p_hwfn->p_dcbx_info->set.config)'s 4 byte difference (3 padding, 1 byte for "valid"). On the assumption that the size is wrong (rather than the source structure type), adjust the memcpy() size argument to be 4 bytes smaller and add a BUILD_BUG_ON() to validate any changes to the structure sizes.
