We tell driver developers to always pass NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT as the weight to netif_napi_add(). This may be confusing to newcomers, drop the weight argument, those who really need to tweak the weight can use netif_napi_add_weight(). 2022-05-17net/qla3xxx: Fix a test in ql_reset_work()Christophe JAILLET1-1/+2
test_bit() tests if one bit is set or not. Here the logic seems to check of bit QL_RESET_PER_SCSI (i.e. 4) OR bit QL_RESET_START (i.e. 3) is set. In fact, it checks if bit 7 (4 | 3 = 7) is set, that is to say QL_ADAPTER_UP. This looks harmless, because this bit is likely be set, and when the ql_reset_work() delayed work is scheduled in ql3xxx_isr() (the only place that schedule this work), QL_RESET_START or QL_RESET_PER_SCSI is set. This has been spotted by smatch. On one hand the IRQ can easily fire again before free_irq() is entered, on the other hand free_irq() itself calls synchronize_irq() internally (in a race condition free way), before any state associated with the IRQ is freed. qed_roce_stop() calls bitmap_weight() to check if any bit of a given bitmap is set. We can do it more efficiently with bitmap_empty() because bitmap_empty() stops traversing the bitmap as soon as it finds first set bit, while bitmap_weight() counts all bits unconditionally. qede_build_skb() assumes build_skb() always works and goes straight to skb_reserve(). However, build_skb() can fail under memory pressure. This results in a kernel panic because the skb to reserve is NULL. Add a check in case build_skb() failed to allocate and return NULL. To fix a coverity complain, commit d5ac07dfbd2b ("qed: Initialize debug string array") removed "sw-platform" (one of the common global parameters) from the dump as this was used in the dump with an uninitialized string, however it did not reduce the number of common global parameters which caused the incorrect (unable to parse) register dump this patch fixes it with reducing NUM_COMMON_GLOBAL_PARAMS bye one. Today when VFs are put in promiscuous mode, they can request PF to configure device for them to receive all VLANs traffic regardless of what vlan is configured by the PF (via ip link) and PF allows this config request regardless of whether VF is trusted or not. From security POV, when VLAN is configured for VF through PF (via ip link), honour such config requests from VF only when they are configured to be trusted, otherwise restrict such VFs vlan promisc mode config. Device firmware can assert if the device shutdown path in driver encounters an async. events from mfw (processed in qed_mcp_handle_events()) after qed_mcp_unload_req() returns. A call to qed_mcp_unload_req() currently marks the device as inactive and thus stops any new events, but there is a windows where in-flight events might still be received by the driver. To prevent this race condition, atomically set QED_MCP_BYPASS_PROC_BIT in qed_mcp_unload_req() to make sure qed_mcp_handle_events() ignores all events. Wait for any event that might already be in-process to complete by monitoring QED_MCP_IN_PROCESSING_BIT. Since commit 94dd016ae538 ("bond: pass get_ts_info and SIOC[SG]HWTSTAMP ioctl to active device") the user could get bond active interface's PHC index directly. But when there is a failover, the bond active interface will change, thus the PHC index is also changed. This may break the user's program if they did not update the PHC timely. This patch adds a new hwtstamp_config flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX. When the user wants to get the bond active interface's PHC, they need to add this flag and be aware the PHC index may be changed. With the new flag. All flag checks in current drivers are removed. In non trivial scenarios, the action id alone is not sufficient to identify the program causing the warning. Before the previous patch, the generated stack-trace pointed out at least the involved device driver. Let's additionally include the program name and id, and the relevant device name. If the user needs additional infos, he can fetch them via a kernel probe, leveraging the arguments added here. ESL(Enhanced System Lockdown) was designed to lock PCI adapter firmware images and prevent changes to critical non-volatile configuration data so that uncontrolled, malicious or unintentional modification to the adapters are avoided, ensuring it's operational state. Once this feature is enabled, the device is locked, rejecting any modification to non-volatile images. Once unlocked, the protection is off such that firmware and non-volatile configurations may be altered. Driver just reflects the capability and status of this through the ethtool private flag.
