The Lustre filesystem has been in the kernel tree for over 5 years now.
While it has been an endless source of enjoyment for new kernel
developers learning how to do basic codingstyle cleanups, as well as an
semi-entertaining source of bewilderment from the vfs developers any
time they have looked into the codebase to try to figure out how to port
their latest api changes to this filesystem, it has not really moved
forward into the "this is in shape to get out of staging" despite many
half-completed attempts.
And getting code out of staging is the main goal of that portion of the
kernel tree. Code should not stagnate and it feels like having this
code in staging is only causing the development cycle of the filesystem
to take longer than it should. There is a whole separate out-of-tree
copy of this codebase where the developers work on it, and then random
changes are thrown over the wall at staging at some later point in time.
This dual-tree development model has never worked, and the state of this
codebase is proof of that.
So, let's just delete the whole mess. Now the lustre developers can go
off and work in their out-of-tree codebase and not have to worry about
providing valid changelog entries and breaking their patches up into
logical pieces. They can take the time they have spend doing those
types of housekeeping chores and get the codebase into a much better
shape, and it can be submitted for inclusion into the real part of the
kernel tree when ready.

Lots of places include libcfs.h, and it includes lots of other include
files. Many of these aren't needed in many places. It is tidier and
better documentation to just include what is needed.
So remove all the includes from libcfs.h and create libcfs_all.h which
contains them. Then change every reference to libcfs.h to instead
include libcfs_all.h
Next several patches will remove that from various files
in small batches

It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.
Update the drivers/staging/lustre files files with the correct SPDX
license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The
SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used
instead of the full boiler plate text.

Release lmv_init_mutex once the new target is added
into lmv_tgt_desc, so lmv_obd_connect will not be
serialized.
New target should be allowed to added to fld client
lists, so FLD can always choose new added target to
do the FLD lookup request, and also remove some noise
error messages in this process.

Add local FLDB to each MDT, so OSD/OUT can check whether
FID is remote by looking up local FLDB, i.e. no need send RPC
to MDT0. This is just the client part of the work.

This patch replace the value '80' used in several files in the lustre source code
with a define LUSTRE_MDT_MAXNAMELEN.
This value is used in 4 different structures as the maximum len for a service name.
According to the comments, these names follow a convention which make it possible
to use the same define for LCS, LSS, LCF, and LSF.

Don't rely on a "custom" LPROCFS define, it's not needed, just check for
the real thing. This will let us delete a whole .h file that is not
being used for anything other than one #define.

We need to remove the ccflags from the Lustre code as it prevents
individual object files from building properly in the kernel build
system. It also hids the horrid mess that the Lustre include files are
made up of.
Start out by removing the toplevel ccflags variable pointing to
drivers/staging/lustre/include/ as a valid include path. This requires
the absolute include markings of a bunch of .h and .c files, which is
also done here.

Split FLD server from client, fld_{handler,index}.c are not compliled
unless server support is enabled. Do not include dt_object.h or
lustre_mdt.h in lustre_fld.h and fix the minor breakages caused by
this elsewhere. Generally cleanup includes in lustre/fld.

Lustre is the most deployed distributed file system
in the HPC (High Performance Computing) world. The patch
adds its client side support.
The code is not very clean and needs to live in drivers/staging
for some time for continuing cleanup work. See
drivers/staging/lustre/TODO for details.
