2024-02-27drm/mediatek: Filter modes according to hardware capabilityHsiao Chien Sung1-0/+12
We found a stability issue on MT8188 when connecting an external monitor in 2560x1440@144Hz mode. Checked with the designer, there is a function called "prefetch" which is working during VBP (triggered by VSYNC). If the duration of VBP is too short, the throughput requirement could increase more than 3 times and lead to stability issues. The mode settings that VDOSYS supports are mainly affected by clock rate and throughput, display driver should filter these settings according to the SoC's limitation to avoid unstable conditions. Since currently the mode filter is only available on MT8195 and MT8188 and they share the same compatible name, the reference number (8250) is hard coded instead of in the driver data. 2023-12-14drm/mediatek: Power on/off devices with function pointersHsiao Chien Sung1-0/+20
Different from OVL, OVL adaptor is a pseudo device so we didn't define it in the device tree, consequently, pm_runtime_resume_and_get() called by .atomic_enable() powers on no device. For this reason, we implement a function to power on the RDMAs in OVL adaptor, and the system will make sure the IOMMUs are powered on as well because of the device link (iommus) in the RDMA nodes in DTS. This patch separates power and clock management process, it would be easier to maintain and add extensions. 2022-04-06drm/mediatek: Add vblank register/unregister callback functionsRex-BC Chen1-7/+22
We encountered a kernel panic issue that callback data will be NULL when it's using in ovl irq handler. There is a timing issue between mtk_disp_ovl_irq_handler() and mtk_ovl_disable_vblank(). To resolve this issue, we use the flow to register/unregister vblank cb: - Register callback function and callback data when crtc creates. - Unregister callback function and callback data when crtc destroies. With this solution, we can assure callback data will not be NULL when vblank is disable. Some panels only accept bpc (bit per color) 6-bit. But, the default bpc in mt8173 display data path is 8-bit. If we didn't enable dithering function to convert bpc, display cannot show the smooth grayscale image. In mt8173, the dithering function in OD (OverDrive) and GAMMA module, we have to config them with connector->display_mode.bpc when CRTC initial. 1. Clear the default value at *_DITHER_5 and *_DITHER_7 register. 2. Calculate the LSB_ERR_SHIFT bits and ADD_LSHIFT bits two values. i.e. Input bpc of OD is 10 bits, we assume the bpc of panel is 6-bit, so, we need to set 4-bit to LSB_ERR_SHIFT and ADD_LSHIFT bits respectively. 3.
