2025-05-09media: uvcvideo: Increase/decrease the PM counter per IOCTLRicardo Ribalda1-11/+27
Now we call uvc_pm_get/put from the device open/close. This low level of granularity might leave the camera powered on in situations where it is not needed. Increase the granularity by increasing and decreasing the Power Management counter per ioctl. There are two special cases where the power management outlives the ioctl: async controls and streamon. Handle those cases as well. In a future patch, we will remove the uvc_pm_get/put from open/close. 2024-12-19media: uvcvideo: Remove dangling pointersRicardo Ribalda1-2/+57
When an async control is written, we copy a pointer to the file handle that started the operation. That pointer will be used when the device is done. Which could be anytime in the future. If the user closes that file descriptor, its structure will be freed, and there will be one dangling pointer per pending async control, that the driver will try to use. Clean all the dangling pointers during release(). To avoid adding a performance penalty in the most common case (no async operation), a counter has been introduced with some logic to make sure that it is properly handled. 2023-01-15media: uvcvideo: Fix race condition with usb_kill_urbRicardo Ribalda1-0/+5
usb_kill_urb warranties that all the handlers are finished when it returns, but does not protect against threads that might be handling asynchronously the urb. For UVC, the function uvc_ctrl_status_event_async() takes care of control changes asynchronously. If the code is executed in the following order: CPU 0 CPU 1 ===== ===== uvc_status_complete() uvc_status_stop() uvc_ctrl_status_event_work() uvc_status_start() -> FAIL Then uvc_status_start will keep failing and this error will be shown: <4>[ 5.540139] URB 0000000000000000 submitted while active drivers/usb/core/urb.c:378 usb_submit_urb+0x4c3/0x528 Let's improve the current situation, by not re-submiting the urb if we are stopping the status event. Also process the queued work (if any) during stop. CPU 0 CPU 1 ===== ===== uvc_status_complete() uvc_status_stop() uvc_status_start() uvc_ctrl_status_event_work() -> FAIL Hopefully, with the usb layer protection this should be enough to cover all the cases. 2023-01-15media: uvcvideo: Refactor power_line_frequency_controls_limitedRicardo Ribalda1-0/+13
Move the control mapping to uvc_ctrl.c. This way we do not have references to UVC controls or V4L2 controls in uvc_driver.c. This also fixes a bug introduced in commit 382075604a68 ("media: uvcvideo: Limit power line control for Quanta UVC Webcam"). The offending commit caused the power line control menu entries to have incorrect indices compared to the V4L2_CID_POWER_LINE_FREQUENCY_* enumeration. Now that the limited mapping reuses the correct menu_info array, the indices correctly map to the V4L2 control specification.
