2023-07-18ASoC: wm8731: Update to use maple tree register cacheMark Brown1-1/+1
The maple tree register cache is based on a much more modern data structure than the rbtree cache and makes optimisation choices which are probably more appropriate for modern systems than those made by the rbtree cache. In v6.5 it has also acquired the ability to generate multi-register writes in sync operations, bringing performance up to parity with the rbtree cache there. Update the wm8731 driver to use the more modern data structure. Placing both the I2C and SPI code in the same module causes problems with mixes of modular and non-modular builds of the buses so it's generally bad practice. As with other drivers split the bus code out of the WM8731 driver into separate modules. Both the I2C and SPI bus code register the component immediately after they call wm8731_hw_init(), factor the code out into the the common function and rename it to just be plain wm8731_init() while we're at it since it's not just for hardware init any more. This refactoring means we need to move the function after the declaration of the component driver. 2015-07-07ASoC: wm8731: initialize the hardware when loading the codec driverSergey Kiselev1-32/+42
This patch moves the requesting supplies, hardware reset and initialization from wm8731_probe to wm8731_i2c_probe and wm8731_spi_probe. So that the codec hardware is initialized when loading the codec driver, and not when loading the machine driver. This avoids unnecesary hardware resets and re-initializations when re-loading the machine driver. 2014-04-14ASoC: Add snd_soc_kcontrol_codec() helper functionLars-Peter Clausen1-2/+2
For CODEC controls snd_kcontrol_chip() currently returns a pointer to the CODEC that registered the control. With the upcoming consolidation of platform and CODEC controls this will change. Prepare for this by introducing the snd_soc_kcontrol_codec() helper function that will hide the implementation details of how the CODEC for a control can be obtained. This will allow us to change this easily in the future. The patch also updates all CODEC drivers to use the new helper function. According to WM8731 "PD, Rev 4.9 October 2012" datasheet, when it works in DSP mode A, LRP = 1, while works in DSP mode B, LRP = 0. So, fix LRP for DSP mode as the datesheet specification. Depending on the mclk (or crystal) selected, the wm8731 codec have some constraints on its data sampling rates: e.g. with a 12.288MHz or 18.432MHz crystal, the authorized rates are 8KHz, 32KHz, 48KHz and 96KHz.
