Instead of listing directly properties typical for SPI peripherals, reference the spi-peripheral-props.yaml schema. This allows using all properties typical for SPI-connected devices, even these which device bindings author did not tried yet. Remove the spi-* properties which now come via spi-peripheral-props.yaml schema, except for the cases when device schema adds some constraints like maximum frequency. While changing additionalProperties->unevaluatedProperties, put it in typical place, just before example DTS. 2022-02-21dt-bindings: iio: accel: add ADXL367Cosmin Tanislav1-0/+79
The ADXL367 is an ultralow power, 3-axis MEMS accelerometer. The ADXL367 does not alias input signals to achieve ultralow power consumption, it samples the full bandwidth of the sensor at all data rates. Measurement ranges of +-2g, +-4g, and +-8g are available, with a resolution of 0.25mg/LSB on the +-2 g range. In addition to its ultralow power consumption, the ADXL367 has many features to enable true system level power reduction. It includes a deep multimode output FIFO, a built-in micropower temperature sensor, and an internal ADC for synchronous conversion of an additional analog input. BMC156 is very smilar to BMC150, but it has only one accelerometer interrupt pin. It would make sense if only INT1 was exposed but someone at Bosch decided to only have an INT2 pin. In this case, it does not make sense if the first interrupt pin is treated as INT1 (since that pin does not exist). Add a note to the bindings that the first interrupt pin is treated as INT2 for BMC156. In Linux the bma180 and bmc150-accel driver cover fairly similar chips from Bosch (just with minor register differences). For the DT schema, this does not make any difference: They both represent I2C/SPI devices, have one or two interrupts plus a vdd/vddio-supply. This means there is no need to duplicate the schema, we can just document the compatibles for both drivers in a single DT schema. 2021-07-24dt-bindings: iio: accel: bma255: Fix interrupt typeStephan Gerhold1-2/+2
Bosch accelerometers similar to BMA255 are initially configured to emit an active-high interrupt signal. This is currently not re-configured in the bmc150-accel driver so the interrupt should most certainly be IRQ_TYPE_EDGE_RISING (or potentially IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_HIGH). (Unless there is some kind of inverter installed on the board...) At the moment the bmc150-accel driver forcefully requests the IRQ using IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING, which means that the IRQ type is currently ignored in all existing device trees. BMA254 is very similar to BMA253/BMA255 which are both supported by the bmc150-accel driver. In general, there is quite some overlap between the bma180 and bmc150-accel driver, but the bmc150-accel driver has a few more features (e.g. motion trigger/interrupt). Let's move bma254 over to the bma255 schema (bmc150-accel driver). 2021-06-13dt-bindings: iio: bma255: Allow multiple interruptsStephan Gerhold1-1/+6
BMA253 has two interrupt pins (INT1 and INT2) that can be configured independently. At the moment the bmc150-accel driver does not make use of them but it might be able to in the future, so it's useful to already specify all available interrupts in the device tree. Set maxItems: 2 for interrupts to allow specifying a second one. This is necessary as preparation to move the bosch,bma254 compatible from bosch,bma180.yaml to bosch,bma255.yaml since bma180 allows two interrupts, but BMA254 is better supported by the bmc150-accel driver. The bmc150-accel-i2c.c driver has an "_accel" suffix for the compatibles of BMC150 and BMI055. This is necessary because BMC150 contains both accelerometer (bosch,bmc150_accel) and magnetometer (bosch,bmc150_magn) and therefore "bosch,bmc150" would be ambiguous. However, the binding documentation suggests using "bosch,bmc150". Add the "_accel" suffix for BMC150 and BMI055 so the binding docs match what is expected by the driver. One question in here is whether we want to constrain the number of interrupts. Some parts definitely only have 1 such pin, and others 2 pins but I can not find information on the bma254. 2020-10-07dt-bindings: Use 'additionalProperties' instead of 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring3-3/+9
In cases where we don't reference another schema, 'additionalProperties' can be used instead. This is preferred for now as 'unevaluatedProperties' support isn't implemented yet. In a few cases, this means adding some missing property definitions of which most are for SPI bus properties. 'unevaluatedProperties' is not going to work for the SPI bus properties anyways as they are evaluated from the parent node, not the SPI child node. 2020-10-07dt-bindings: Add missing 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring3-0/+6
This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. This is in preparation to add a meta-schema to check for missing 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties'. This has been a constant source of review issues. 2020-03-31dt-bindings: Add missing 'additionalProperties: false'Rob Herring1-0/+2
Setting 'additionalProperties: false' is frequently omitted, but is important in order to check that there aren't extra undocumented properties in a binding. Ideally, we'd just add this automatically and make this the default, but there's some cases where it doesn't work. For example, if a common schema is referenced, then properties in the common schema aren't part of what's considered for 'additionalProperties'. Also, sometimes there are bus specific properties such as 'spi-max-frequency' that go into bus child nodes, but aren't defined in the child node's schema. So let's stick with the json-schema defined default and add 'additionalProperties: false' where needed. This will be a continual review comment and game of wack-a-mole. This adds support for the BMA254 variant of this accelerometer. The only difference for the simple IIO driver is that values are 12 bit and the temperature offset differs by 1 degree. Whilst wildcards in naming are normally frowned upon: The cases where I have labeled variables "25x" is where the models are identical, so as to make things easier for people that want to add support for BMA253 and BMA255.
