2017-05-01avr32: remove support for AVR32 architectureHans-Christian Noren Egtvedt1-200/+0
This patch drops support for AVR32 architecture from the Linux kernel. The AVR32 architecture is not keeping up with the development of the kernel, and since it shares so much of the drivers with Atmel ARM SoC, it is starting to hinder these drivers to develop swiftly. Also, all AVR32 AP7 SoC processors are end of lifed from Atmel (now Microchip). Finally, the GCC toolchain is stuck at version 4.2.x, and has not received any patches since the last release from Atmel; 4.2.4-atmel.1.1.3.avr32linux.1. When building kernel v4.10, this toolchain is no longer able to properly link the network stack. Haavard and I have came to the conclusion that we feel keeping AVR32 on life support offers more obstacles for Atmel ARMs, than it gives joy to AVR32 users. I also suspect there are very few AVR32 users left today, if anybody at all. 2011-10-31avr32: add export.h to arch/avr32 for EXPORT_SYMBOL/THIS_MODULEPaul Gortmaker1-0/+1
Add it in where the module.h implicit presence was doing the job before. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com>
2011-07-11Merge branch 'master' into for-nextJiri Kosina1-3/+1
Sync with Linus' tree to be able to apply pending patches that are based on newer code already present upstream.
2011-06-14avr32: make intc_resume() return void to conform to syscore_opsHans-Christian Egtvedt1-3/+1
This patch removes the unneeded, and now wrong, return 0 from intc_resume() and lets the function return void instead. This matches the resume callback in struct syscore_ops. Signed-off-by: Hans-Christian Egtvedt <hans-christian.egtvedt@atmel.com>
2011-06-10treewide: Convert uses of struct resource to resource_size(ptr)Joe Perches1-1/+1
Several fixes as well where the +1 was missing. Done via coccinelle scripts like: @@ struct resource *ptr; @@ - ptr->end - ptr->start + 1 + resource_size(ptr) and some grep and typing. Mostly uncompiled, no cross-compilers. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz>
2011-05-11PM / AVR32: Use struct syscore_ops instead of sysdevs for PMRafael J. Wysocki1-26/+12
Convert some AVR32 architecture's code to using struct syscore_ops objects for power management instead of sysdev classes and sysdevs. This simplifies the code and reduces the kernel's memory footprint. It also is necessary for removing sysdevs from the kernel entirely in the future. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2008-07-02avr32: Power Management support ("standby" and "mem" modes)Haavard Skinnemoen1-1/+53
Implement Standby support. In this mode, we'll suspend all drivers, put the SDRAM in self-refresh mode and switch off the HSB bus ("frozen" mode.) Implement Suspend-to-mem support. In this mode, we suspend all drivers, put the SDRAM into self-refresh mode and switch off all internal clocks except the 32 kHz oscillator ("stop" mode.) The lowest-level suspend code runs from a small portion of SRAM allocated at startup time. This gets rid of a small potential race with the SDRAM where we might try to enter self-refresh mode in the middle of an icache burst. We also relocate all interrupt and exception handlers to SRAM during the small window when we enter and exit the low-power modes. We don't need to do any special tricks to start and stop the PLL. The main clock is automatically gated by hardware until the PLL is stable. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
2008-07-02avr32: Add system device for the internal interrupt controller (intc)Haavard Skinnemoen1-3/+25
This makes the intc show up in sysfs (probably not very useful), and allows us to easily add suspend/resume support later. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
2008-04-19avr32: Delete mostly unused header asm/intc.hHaavard Skinnemoen1-1/+0
Move the only thing that was actually implemented and used in asm/intc.h, intc_get_pending(), into asm/irq.h and delete asm/intc.h Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
2007-11-15[AVR32] Export intc_get_pending symbolHaavard Skinnemoen1-1/+3
Oprofile needs to call intc_get_pending() in order to determine whether a performance counter interrupt is pending. Also, include the header which declares intc_get_pending() and fix the definition to match the prototype. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>
2006-12-08[AVR32] Implement intc_get_pending()Haavard Skinnemoen1-0/+4
intc_get_pending() returns a bitmask with pending interrupts in a interrupt controller group (irq). This is used by the upcoming oprofile implementation for avr32 and may also be useful for chained interrupt controller drivers. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <hskinnemoen@atmel.com>

2006-09-26[PATCH] avr32 architectureHaavard Skinnemoen1-0/+133
This adds support for the Atmel AVR32 architecture as well as the AT32AP7000 CPU and the AT32STK1000 development board. AVR32 is a new high-performance 32-bit RISC microprocessor core, designed for cost-sensitive embedded applications, with particular emphasis on low power consumption and high code density. The AVR32 architecture is not binary compatible with earlier 8-bit AVR architectures. The AVR32 architecture, including the instruction set, is described by the AVR32 Architecture Manual, available from http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc32000.pdf The Atmel AT32AP7000 is the first CPU implementing the AVR32 architecture. It features a 7-stage pipeline, 16KB instruction and data caches and a full Memory Management Unit. It also comes with a large set of integrated peripherals, many of which are shared with the AT91 ARM-based controllers from Atmel. Full data sheet is available from http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc32003.pdf while the CPU core implementation including caches and MMU is documented by the AVR32 AP Technical Reference, available from http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc32001.pdf Information about the AT32STK1000 development board can be found at http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=3918 including a BSP CD image with an earlier version of this patch, development tools (binaries and source/patches) and a root filesystem image suitable for booting from SD card. Alternatively, there's a preliminary "getting started" guide available at http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GettingStarted which provides links to the sources and patches you will need in order to set up a cross-compiling environment for avr32-linux. This patch, as well as the other patches included with the BSP and the toolchain patches, is actively supported by Atmel Corporation.
