2008-06-10powerpc: Remove arch/ppc and include/asm-ppcPaul Mackerras1-2485/+0
All the maintained platforms are now in arch/powerpc, so the old arch/ppc stuff can now go away. 2008-04-28mv643xx_eth: get rid of static variables, allow multiple instancesLennert Buytenhek1-0/+3
Move mv643xx_eth's static state (ethernet register block base address and MII management interface spinlock) into a struct hanging off the shared platform device. This is necessary to support chips that contain multiple mv643xx_eth silicon blocks. 2008-01-26[I2C] i2c-mv64xxx: Don't set i2c_adapter.retriesJean Delvare1-1/+0
I2C adapter drivers are supposed to handle retries on nack by themselves if they do, so there's no point in setting .retries if they don't. As this retry mechanism is going away (at least in its current form), clean this up now so that we don't get build failures later. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Acked-by: Mark A. 2007-07-24[WATCHDOG] mv64x60_wdt: set up platform_device in platform codeDale Farnsworth1-0/+29
The driver previously registered its platform device data in its own init function--that's bogus. Move that code to platform-specific code in arch/ppc. This is being done so that the platform code can decide at runtime whether to initialize this driver or not. 2007-07-11sysfs: kill unnecessary attribute->ownerTejun Heo1-1/+0
sysfs is now completely out of driver/module lifetime game. After deletion, a sysfs node doesn't access anything outside sysfs proper, so there's no reason to hold onto the attribute owners. Note that often the wrong modules were accounted for as owners leading to accessing removed modules. This patch kills now unnecessary attribute->owner. Note that with this change, userland holding a sysfs node does not prevent the backing module from being unloaded. For more info regarding lifetime rule cleanup, please read the following message. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/510293 (tweaked by Greg to not delete the field just yet, to make it easier to merge things properly.) 2007-03-06mv643xx_eth: Place explicit port number in mv643xx_eth_platform_dataDale Farnsworth1-3/+9
We were using the platform_device.id field to identify which ethernet port is used for mv643xx_eth device. This is not generally correct. It will be incorrect, for example, if a hardware platform uses a single port but not the first port. Here, we add an explicit port_number field to struct mv643xx_eth_platform_data. This makes the mv643xx_eth_platform_data structure required, but that isn't an issue since all users currently provide it already. 2006-02-10[PATCH] powerpc: trivial: modify comments to refer to new location of filesJon Mason1-2/+0
This patch removes all self references and fixes references to files in the now defunct arch/ppc64 tree. I think this accomplises everything wanted, though there might be a few references I missed. Signed-off-by: Jon Mason <jdmason@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
