2020-08-14all arch: remove system call sys_sysctlXiaoming Ni1-1/+0
Since commit 61a47c1ad3a4dc ("sysctl: Remove the sysctl system call"), sys_sysctl is actually unavailable: any input can only return an error. We have been warning about people using the sysctl system call for years and believe there are no more users. Even if there are users of this interface if they have not complained or fixed their code by now they probably are not going to, so there is no point in warning them any longer. So completely remove sys_sysctl on all architectures. 2019-06-10sh: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+0
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). 2018-12-18sh: dreamcast: rtc: push down rtc class ops into driverArnd Bergmann1-0/+2
The SH RTC support has an extra level of indirection to provide either the old read_persistent_clock/update_persistent_clock interface or the rtc-generic device for hctosys/systohc. Both do the same thing for dreamcast, so we can do away with the abstraction and simply let the RTC core code to take care of it. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

2010-09-14sh: Set CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=nMatt Fleming1-1/+0
As the help for the config option suggests, this option really shouldn't be set by default for any recent distribution as it changes the layout of sysfs. I spotted this while running debian when udev got very confused by the sysfs layout and failed to create some device nodes. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
