2022-09-11treewide: defconfig: address renamed CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO=yArnd Bergmann2-2/+2
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO is now implicitly selected if one picks one of the explicit options that could be DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF4, DEBUG_INFO_DWARF5. This was actually not what I had in mind when I suggested making it a 'choice' statement, but it's too late to change again now, and the Kconfig logic is more sensible in the new form. Change any defconfig file that had CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO enabled but did not pick DWARF4 or DWARF5 explicitly to now pick the toolchain default. 2021-06-23kunit: Move default config from arch/um -> tools/testing/kunitDavid Gow1-3/+0
The default .kunitconfig file is currently kept in arch/um/configs/kunit_defconfig, but -- with the impending QEMU patch -- will no-longer be exclusively used for UML-based kernels. Move it alongside the other KUnit configs in tools/testing/kunit/configs, and give it a name which matches the existing all_tests.config and broken_on_uml.config files. Also update the Getting Started documentation to point to the new file. 2021-06-23kunit: arch/um/configs: Enable KUNIT_ALL_TESTS by defaultDavid Gow1-1/+1
Make the default .kunitconfig (specified in arch/um/configs/kunit_defconfig) specify CONFIG_KUNIT_ALL_TESTS by default. KUNIT_ALL_TESTS runs all tests which have satisfied dependencies in the current .config (which would be the architecture defconfig). Currently, the default .kunitconfig enables only the example tests and KUnit's own tests. While this does provide a good example of what a .kunitconfig for running a few individual tests should look like, it does mean that kunit_tool runs a pretty paltry collection of tests by default. The example tests' config entry (CONFIG_KUNIT_EXAMPLE_TEST=y) continues to be included -- despite now being redundant -- to provide an example of how tests are enabled when KUNIT_ALL_TESTS is disabled. A default run of ./tools/testing/kunit/kunit.py run now runs 70 tests instead of 14. 2020-03-29um: Cleanup CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQKrzysztof Kozlowski2-2/+2
CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ is gone since commit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers"). The IOSCHED_BFQ seems to replace IOSCHED_CFQ so select it in configs previously choosing the latter. 2019-09-30kunit: defconfig: add defconfigs for building KUnit testsBrendan Higgins1-0/+3
Add defconfig for UML and a fragment that can be used to configure other architectures for building KUnit tests. Add option to kunit_tool to use a defconfig to create the kunitconfig. 2019-07-02um: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski2-2/+0
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). 2013-11-17arch/um: make it work with defconfig and x86_64Ramkumar Ramachandra2-0/+151
arch/um/defconfig only lists one default configuration, and that applies only to the i386 architecture. Replace it with two minimal configuration files generated using `make savedefconfig`: i386_defconfig and x86_64_defconfig The build scripts now require two updates: 1. um's Kconfig (arch/x86/um/Kconfig) should specify an ARCH_DEFCONFIG section explicitly pointing to these scripts if the required variables are set. Take care to remove the DEFCONFIG_LIST section defined in the included file arch/um/Kconfig.common. 2. um's Makefile (arch/um/Makefile) should set KBUILD_DEFCONFIG properly for the top-level Makefile to pick up. Copy the logic in arch/x86/Makefile to properly pick the defconfig file depending on the actual architecture; except we're working with $SUBARCH here, instead of $ARCH. Now, you can do: $ ARCH=um make defconfig $ ARCH=um make and successfully build User-Mode Linux on an x86_64 box in default configuration.
