2021-11-19cxgb3: Use struct_group() for memcpy() regionKees Cook1-3/+6
In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid intentionally writing across neighboring fields. Use struct_group() in struct rss_hdr around members imm_data and intr_gen, so they can be referenced together. This will allow memcpy() and sizeof() to more easily reason about sizes, improve readability, and avoid future warnings about writing beyond the end of imm_data. 2021-06-03net:cxgb3: replace tasklets with worksÍñigo Huguet1-16/+22
OFLD and CTRL TX queues can be stopped if there is no room in their DMA rings. If this happens, they're tried to be restarted later after having made some room in the corresponding ring. The tasks of restarting these queues were triggered using tasklets, but they can be replaced for workqueue works, getting them out of softirq context. This queues stop/restart probably doesn't happen often and they can be quite lengthy because they try to send all pending skbs. Moreover, given that probably the ring is not empty yet, so the DMA still has work to do, we don't need to be so fast to justify using tasklets/softirq instead of running in a thread. 2020-09-29net: cxgb3: Cleanup in_interrupt() usageThomas Gleixner1-17/+27
t3_sge_stop() is called from task context and from error handlers in interrupt context. It relies on in_interrupt() to differentiate the contexts. in_interrupt() is deprecated as it is ill defined and does not provide what it suggests. Instead of replacing it with some other construct, simply split the function into t3_sge_stop_dma(), which can be called from any context, and t3_sge_stop() which can be only called from task context. This has the advantage that any bogus invocation of t3_sge_stop() from wrong contexts can be caught by debug kernels instead of being papered over by the conditional. As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when documenting code, not doxygen or other styles. After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch. Replace kfree_skb with dev_consume_skb_any in free_tx_desc, and write_tx_pkt_wr that can be called in hard irq and other contexts. Replace dev_kfree_skb with dev_kfree_skb_any in t3_eth_xmit that can be called in hard irq and other contexts. dev_kfree_skb is replaced with dev_kfree_skb_any in t3_eth_xmit as that location is a packet drop, while kfree_skb in free_tx_desc, and in write_tx_pkt_wr are places where packets are consumed in a healthy manner. Add a protocol argument to the VLAN packet tagging functions. In case of HW tagging, we need that protocol available in the ndo_start_xmit functions, so it is stored in a new field in the skb.
