2022-07-18wifi: mt7601u: fix clang -Wformat warningJustin Stitt1-1/+1
When building with Clang we encounter this warning: | drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u/debugfs.c:92:6: error: format | specifies type 'unsigned char' but the argument has type 'int' | [-Werror,-Wformat] dev->ee->reg.start + dev->ee->reg.num - 1); The format specifier used is `%hhu` which describes a u8. Both `dev->ee->reg.start` and `.num` are u8 as well. However, the expression as a whole is promoted to an int as you cannot get smaller-than-int from addition. Therefore, to fix the warning, use the promoted-to-type's format specifier -- in this case `%d`. example: ``` uint8_t a = 4, b = 7; int size = sizeof(a + b - 1); printf("%d\n", size); // output: 4 ``` See more: (https://wiki.sei.cmu.edu/confluence/display/c/INT02-C.+Understand+integer+conversion+rules) "Integer types smaller than int are promoted when an operation is performed on them. If all values of the original type can be represented as an int, the value of the smaller type is converted to an int; otherwise, it is converted to an unsigned int." 2022-07-18wifi: mt7601u: eeprom: fix clang -Wformat warningJustin Stitt1-1/+1
When building with Clang we encounter the following warning: | drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u/eeprom.c:193:5: error: format | specifies type 'char' but the argument has type 'int' [-Werror,-Wformat] | chan_bounds[idx].start + chan_bounds[idx].num - 1); Variadic functions (printf-like) undergo default argument promotion. Documentation/core-api/printk-formats.rst specifically recommends using the promoted-to-type's format flag. Moreover, C11 6.3.1.1 states: (https://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/docs/n1548.pdf) `If an int can represent all values of the original type ..., the value is converted to an int; otherwise, it is converted to an unsigned int. These are called the integer promotions.` With this information in hand, we really should stop using `%hh[dxu]` or `%h[dxu]` as they usually prompt Clang -Wformat warnings as well as go against documented standard recommendations. 2022-06-20wifi: mac80211: move interface config to new structJohannes Berg1-3/+6
We'll use bss_conf for per-link configuration later, so move out all the non-link-specific data out into a new struct ieee80211_vif_cfg used in the vif. Some adjustments were done with the following spatch: @@ expression sdata; struct ieee80211_vif *vifp; identifier var = { assoc, ibss_joined, aid, arp_addr_list, arp_addr_cnt, ssid, ssid_len, s1g, ibss_creator }; @@ ( -sdata->vif.bss_conf.var +sdata->vif.cfg.var | -vifp->bss_conf.var +vifp->cfg.var ) @bss_conf@ struct ieee80211_bss_conf *bss_conf; identifier var = { assoc, ibss_joined, aid, arp_addr_list, arp_addr_cnt, ssid, ssid_len, s1g, ibss_creator }; @@ -bss_conf->var +vif_cfg->var (though more manual fixups were needed, e.g. replacing "vif_cfg->" by "vif->cfg." in many files.) 2022-04-11mac80211: prepare sta handling for MLO supportSriram R2-3/+3
Currently in mac80211 each STA object is represented using sta_info datastructure with the associated STA specific information and drivers access ieee80211_sta part of it. With MLO (Multi Link Operation) support being added in 802.11be standard, though the association is logically with a single Multi Link capable STA, at the physical level communication can happen via different advertised links (uniquely identified by Channel, operating class, BSSID) and hence the need to handle multiple link STA parameters within a composite sta_info object called the MLD STA. The different link STA part of MLD STA are identified using the link address which can be same or different as the MLD STA address and unique link id based on the link vif. To support extension of such a model, the sta_info datastructure is modified to hold multiple link STA objects with link specific params currently within sta_info moved to this new structure. Similarly this is done for ieee80211_sta as well which will be accessed within mac80211 as well as by drivers, hence trivial driver changes are expected to support this. For current non MLO supported drivers, only one link STA is present and link information is accessed via 'deflink' member. For MLO drivers, we still need to define the APIs etc. to get the correct link ID and access the correct part of the station info. Currently in mac80211, all link STA info are accessed directly via deflink. These will be updated to access via link pointers indexed by link id with MLO support patches, with link id being 0 for non MLO supported cases. Except for couple of macro related changes, below spatch takes care of updating mac80211 and driver code to access to the link STA info via deflink. @ieee80211_sta@ struct ieee80211_sta *s; struct sta_info *si; identifier var = {supp_rates, ht_cap, vht_cap, he_cap, he_6ghz_capa, eht_cap, rx_nss, bandwidth, txpwr}; @@ ( s-> - var + deflink.var | si->sta. - var + deflink.var ) @sta_info@ struct sta_info *si; identifier var = {gtk, pcpu_rx_stats, rx_stats, rx_stats_avg, status_stats, tx_stats, cur_max_bandwidth}; @@ ( si-> - var + deflink.var ) Signed-off-by: Sriram R <quic_srirrama@quicinc.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1649086883-13246-1-git-send-email-quic_srirrama@quicinc.com [remove MLO-drivers notes from commit message, not clear yet; run spatch] Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2021-04-11mt7601u: fix always true expressionColin Ian King1-1/+1
Currently the expression ~nic_conf1 is always true because nic_conf1 is a u16 and according to 6.5.3.3 of the C standard the ~ operator promotes the u16 to an integer before flipping all the bits. Thus the top 16 bits of the integer result are all set so the expression is always true. If the intention was to flip all the bits of nic_conf1 then casting the integer result back to a u16 is a suitabel fix. Interestingly static analyzers seem to thing a bitwise ! should be used instead of ~ for this scenario, so I think the original intent of the expression may need some extra consideration. 2020-06-14treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'Masahiro Yamada1-1/+1
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. There are a variety of indentation styles found. a) 4 spaces + '---help---' b) 7 spaces + '---help---' c) 8 spaces + '---help---' d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---' e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation) f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---' g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---' In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the following commend: $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <masahiroy@kernel.org>

2019-10-04mac80211: simplify TX aggregation startJohannes Berg1-2/+1
There really is no need to make drivers call the ieee80211_start_tx_ba_cb_irqsafe() function and then schedule the worker if all we want is to set a bit. Add a new return value (that was previously considered invalid) to indicate that the driver is immediately ready for the session, and make drivers use it. The only drivers that remain different are the Intel ones as they need to negotiate more with the firmware. Daniel Borkmann says: ==================== pull-request: bpf-next 2018-03-31 The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree. The main changes are: 1) Add raw BPF tracepoint API in order to have a BPF program type that can access kernel internal arguments of the tracepoints in their raw form similar to kprobes based BPF programs. This infrastructure also adds a new BPF_RAW_TRACEPOINT_OPEN command to BPF syscall which returns an anon-inode backed fd for the tracepoint object that allows for automatic detach of the BPF program resp. unregistering of the tracepoint probe on fd release, from Alexei. 2) Add new BPF cgroup hooks at bind() and connect() entry in order to allow BPF programs to reject, inspect or modify user space passed struct sockaddr, and as well a hook at post bind time once the port has been allocated. They are used in FB's container management engine for implementing policy, replacing fragile LD_PRELOAD wrapper intercepting bind() and connect() calls that only works in limited scenarios like glibc based apps but not for other runtimes in containerized applications, from Andrey. 3) BPF_F_INGRESS flag support has been added to sockmap programs for their redirect helper call bringing it in line with cls_bpf based programs. Support is added for both variants of sockmap programs, meaning for tx ULP hooks as well as recv skb hooks, from John. 4) Various improvements on BPF side for the nfp driver, besides others this work adds BPF map update and delete helper call support from the datapath, JITing of 32 and 64 bit XADD instructions as well as offload support of bpf_get_prandom_u32() call. Initial implementation of nfp packet cache has been tackled that optimizes memory access (see merge commit for further details), from Jakub and Jiong. 5) Removal of struct bpf_verifier_env argument from the print_bpf_insn() API has been done in order to prepare to use print_bpf_insn() soon out of perf tool directly. This makes the print_bpf_insn() API more generic and pushes the env into private data. bpftool is adjusted as well with the print_bpf_insn() argument removal, from Jiri. 6) Couple of cleanups and prep work for the upcoming BTF (BPF Type Format). The latter will reuse the current BPF verifier log as well, thus bpf_verifier_log() is further generalized, from Martin. 7) For bpf_getsockopt() and bpf_setsockopt() helpers, IPv4 IP_TOS read and write support has been added in similar fashion to existing IPv6 IPV6_TCLASS socket option we already have, from Nikita. 8) Fixes in recent sockmap scatterlist API usage, which did not use sg_init_table() for initialization thus triggering a BUG_ON() in scatterlist API when CONFIG_DEBUG_SG was enabled. This adds and uses a small helper sg_init_marker() to properly handle the affected cases, from Prashant. 9) Let the BPF core follow IDR code convention and therefore use the idr_preload() and idr_preload_end() helpers, which would also help idr_alloc_cyclic() under GFP_ATOMIC to better succeed under memory pressure, from Shaohua. 10) Last but not least, a spelling fix in an error message for the BPF cookie UID helper under BPF sample code, from Colin. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-03-22mt7601u: use firmware_request_cache() to address cache on rebootLuis R. Rodriguez1-1/+1
request_firmware_cache() will ensure the firmware is available on resume from suspend if on reboot the device retains the firmware. This optimization is in place given otherwise on reboot we have to reload the firmware, the opmization saves us about max 1s, minimum 10ms. Cantabile has reported back this fixes his woes with both suspend and hibernation. 2018-03-13mt7601u: let mac80211 validate rx CCMP PNLorenzo Bianconi2-1/+10
Apparently the hardware does not perform CCMP PN validation so let mac80211 take care of possible replay attacks in sw. Moreover indicate ICV and MIC had been stripped setting corresponding bits in ieee80211_rx_status. The fix has been validated using 4.2.1 and 4.1.3 tests from the WiFi Alliance vulnerability detection tool.
