2025-04-22drm/amd/display: Fix ACPI edid parsing on some Lenovo systemsMario Limonciello1-1/+1
[Why] The ACPI EDID in the BIOS of a Lenovo laptop includes 3 blocks, but dm_helpers_probe_acpi_edid() has a start that is 'char'. The 3rd block index starts after 255, so it can't be indexed properly. This leads to problems with the display when the EDID is parsed. [How] Change the variable type to 'short' so that larger values can be indexed. Cc: Renjith Pananchikkal <renjith.pananchikkal@amd.com> Reported-by: Mark Pearson <mpearson@lenovo.com> Suggested-by: David Ober <dober@lenovo.com> Fixes: c6a837088bed ("drm/amd/display: Fetch the EDID from _DDC if available for eDP") Reviewed-by: Alex Hung <alex.hung@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Mario Limonciello <mario.limonciello@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Zaeem Mohamed <zaeem.mohamed@amd.com> Tested-by: Mark Broadworth <mark.broadworth@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2025-04-07drm/amd/display: HDCP Locality check using DMUB Fused IODominik Kaszewski1-0/+13
[Why] HDCP locality check has strict timing requirements, currently broken due to reliance on msleep which does not guarantee accuracy. The PR moves the write-poll-read sequence into DMUB using new generic Fused IO interface, where the timing accuracy is greatly improved. New flow is enabled using DCN resource capability bit (none for now), or using a debug flag. [How] * Extended mod_hdcp_config with new function for requesting DMUB to execute a sequence of fused I2C/AUX commands and synchronously wait until an outbox reply arrives or a timeout expires. * If the timeout expires, send an abort to DMUB. * Update HDCP to use the DMUB for locality check if supported. * Add DC_HDCP_LC_FORCE_FW_ENABLE and DC_HDCP_LC_ENABLE_SW_FALLBACK. * Make the first enable new flow regardless of resource capabilities. * Make the second enable fallback to old SW flow. * Clean up makefile source file listings for easier updates. [Why] Certain small HBlank timings may not have a large enough HBlank to support audio when low bpp DSC is enabled. HBlank expansion by the source can solve this problem, but requires the branch/sink to support HBlank reduction. 2024-10-22drm/amd/display: temp w/a for DP Link Layer complianceAurabindo Pillai1-0/+13
[Why&How] Disabling P-State support on full updates for DCN401 results in introducing additional communication with SMU. A UCLK hard min message to SMU takes 4 seconds to go through, which was due to DCN not allowing pstate switch, which was caused by incorrect value for TTU watermark before blanking the HUBP prior to DPG on for servicing the test request. Fix the issue temporarily by disallowing pstate changes for compliance test while test request handler is reworked for a proper fix. 2023-11-29drm/amd/display: adjust flow for deallocation mst payloadWayne Lin1-20/+33
[Why] MST relevant variables are maintained at drm side. As the result, we still have to call drm_dp_remove_payload_part2() to update the relevant values regardless the link is under mst mode or not. We used to have a workaround patch to tackle this: commit 3d8fcc6740c9 ("drm/amd/display: Extract temp drm mst deallocation wa into its own function") Now it's time to remove the workaround and adjust the flow. [How] During deallocate_mst_payload(), source actually doesn't send out ALLOCATE_PAYLOAD at the end as like the flow in allocate_mst_payload(). Call function dm_helpers_dp_mst_send_payload_allocation() at the end of deallocate_mst_payload() is a bit confusing. Separate dm_helpers_dp_mst_send_payload_allocation() into 2 functions. Have a new function dm_helpers_dp_mst_update_mst_mgr_for_deallocation() to replace dm_helpers_dp_mst_send_payload_allocation() for payload deallocation. 2023-09-26drm/amd/display: switch DC over to the new DRM logging macrosHamza Mahfooz1-29/+40
For multi-GPU systems it is difficult to tell which GPU a particular message is being printed for and that is undesirable because it complicates debugging efforts. Also, the new macros allow us to enable logging for particular parts of the codebase more selectively (since we no longer need to throw everything at DRM_DEBUG_KMS()). So, for the reasons outlined above we should switch to the new macros. We can accomplish this by using the existing DC_LOGGER code to pass around the relevant `struct drm_device` which will be fed to the new macros in logger_types.h. Also, we must get rid of all instances of the DC_LOG_.*() functions that are currently in amdgpu_dm since we don't use the DC logger there and we can simply refer to the macros directly there instead. 2023-09-08drm/mst: Refactor the flow for payload allocation/removementWayne Lin1-8/+12
[Why] Today, the allocation/deallocation steps and status is a bit unclear. For instance, payload->vc_start_slot = -1 stands for "the failure of updating DPCD payload ID table" and can also represent as "payload is not allocated yet". These two cases should be handled differently and hence better to distinguish them for better understanding. [How] Define enumeration - ALLOCATION_LOCAL, ALLOCATION_DFP and ALLOCATION_REMOTE to distinguish different allocation status. Adjust the code to handle different status accordingly for better understanding the sequence of payload allocation and payload removement. For payload creation, the procedure should look like this: DRM part 1: * step 1 - update sw mst mgr variables to add a new payload * step 2 - add payload at immediate DFP DPCD payload table Driver: * Add new payload in HW and sync up with DFP by sending ACT DRM Part 2: * Send ALLOCATE_PAYLOAD sideband message to allocate bandwidth along the virtual channel. And as for payload removement, the procedure should look like this: DRM part 1: * step 1 - Send ALLOCATE_PAYLOAD sideband message to release bandwidth along the virtual channel * step 2 - Clear payload allocation at immediate DFP DPCD payload table Driver: * Remove the payload in HW and sync up with DFP by sending ACT DRM part 2: * update sw mst mgr variables to remove the payload Note that it's fine to fail when communicate with the branch device connected at immediate downstrean-facing port, but updating variables of SW mst mgr and HW configuration should be conducted anyway. That's because it's under commit_tail and we need to complete the HW programming. Changes since v1: * Remove the set but not use variable 'old_payload' in function 'nv50_msto_prepare'.
