2026-08-24net: qualcomm: rmnet: restore skb->dev on deaggregated framesXiang Mei1-0/+1
rmnet_map_deaggregate() allocates each sub-frame with alloc_skb() and leaves skb->dev NULL. __rmnet_map_ingress_handler() assigns skb->dev = ep->egress_dev only on the data path, but a MAP command frame is dispatched to rmnet_map_command() before that, so rmnet_map_send_ack() runs netif_tx_lock(skb->dev) on a NULL device. An unprivileged user reaches this by unsharing a user+net namespace, creating an rmnet link over a tap device with INGRESS_DEAGGREGATION and INGRESS_MAP_COMMANDS, and writing an aggregated frame carrying a flow-control command to the tap fd. Restore the assignment dropped by 378e25357ac7, so every skb leaving rmnet_map_deaggregate() has a valid device. 2026-07-08net: rmnet: annotate endpoint lookup under RTNLRunyu Xiao1-1/+2
rmnet_get_endpoint() is shared by packet receive paths and RTNL-protected control paths. The receive paths already run under RCU/BH context through the RX handler, while the control paths reach rmnet_get_endpoint() after obtaining the rmnet port with rmnet_get_port_rtnl(). The helper walks port->muxed_ep[] with hlist_for_each_entry_rcu(). Pass lockdep_rtnl_is_held() as the non-RCU protection condition so CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST can see the RTNL-protected control-path calls while preserving the existing RCU-reader behavior for data paths. This was found by our static analysis tool and then manually reviewed against the current tree. The dynamic triage evidence is a target-matched CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST warning; the change is limited to documenting the existing protection contract. This is a lockdep annotation cleanup. It does not change endpoint lifetime or hash updates. 2026-07-07net: ethernet: qualcomm: Constify "queue_map" in ppe_ring_queue_map_set()Krzysztof Kozlowski2-2/+3
"queue_map" is a pointer to "u32" and is not modified by the ppe_ring_queue_map_set() function, thus can be made a pointer to const to indicate that function is treating the pointed value read-only. 2026-07-06net: qualcomm: rmnet: validate MAP frame length before ingress parsingXiang Mei3-33/+45
When ingress deaggregation is disabled, rmnet_map_ingress_handler() passes the skb straight to __rmnet_map_ingress_handler(), skipping the length validation that rmnet_map_deaggregate() performs on the aggregated path. The parser then dereferences the MAP header and csum header/trailer based on the on-wire pkt_len without checking skb->len, so a short frame is read out of bounds: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in rmnet_map_checksum_downlink_packet Read of size 1 at addr ffff88801118ed00 by task exploit/147 Call Trace: ... rmnet_map_checksum_downlink_packet (drivers/net/ethernet/qualcomm/rmnet/rmnet_map_data.c:413) __rmnet_map_ingress_handler (drivers/net/ethernet/qualcomm/rmnet/rmnet_handlers.c:96) rmnet_rx_handler (drivers/net/ethernet/qualcomm/rmnet/rmnet_handlers.c:129) __netif_receive_skb_core.constprop.0 (net/core/dev.c:6089) netif_receive_skb (net/core/dev.c:6460) tun_get_user (drivers/net/tun.c:1955) tun_chr_write_iter (drivers/net/tun.c:2001) vfs_write (fs/read_write.c:688) ksys_write (fs/read_write.c:740) do_syscall_64 (arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:94) ... 2026-04-03net: qualcomm: qca_uart: report the consumed byte on RX skb allocation failurePengpeng Hou1-1/+1
qca_tty_receive() consumes each input byte before checking whether a completed frame needs a fresh receive skb. When the current byte completes a frame, the driver delivers that frame and then allocates a new skb for the next one. If that allocation fails, the current code returns i even though data[i] has already been consumed and may already have completed the delivered frame. Since serdev interprets the return value as the number of accepted bytes, this under-reports progress by one byte and can replay the final byte of the completed frame into a fresh parser state on the next call. Return i + 1 in that failure path so the accepted-byte count matches the actual receive-state progress. 2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds1-2/+2
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) 2025-08-21net: ethernet: qualcomm: Add PPE debugfs support for PPE countersLuo Jie6-1/+1012
The PPE hardware counters maintain counters for packets handled by the various functional blocks of PPE. They help in tracing the packets passed through PPE and debugging any packet drops. The counters displayed by this debugfs file are ones that are common for all Ethernet ports, and they do not include the counters that are specific for a MAC port. 2025-02-21net: Use link/peer netns in newlink() of rtnl_link_opsXiao Liang1-2/+2
Add two helper functions - rtnl_newlink_link_net() and rtnl_newlink_peer_net() for netns fallback logic. Peer netns falls back to link netns, and link netns falls back to source netns. Convert the use of params->net in netdevice drivers to one of the helper functions for clarity. 2025-02-21rtnetlink: Pack newlink() params into structXiao Liang1-2/+5
There are 4 net namespaces involved when creating links: - source netns - where the netlink socket resides, - target netns - where to put the device being created, - link netns - netns associated with the device (backend), - peer netns - netns of peer device. Currently, two nets are passed to newlink() callback - "src_net" parameter and "dev_net" (implicitly in net_device). They are set as follows, depending on netlink attributes in the request. +------------+-------------------+---------+---------+ | peer netns | IFLA_LINK_NETNSID | src_net | dev_net | +------------+-------------------+---------+---------+ | | absent | source | target | | absent +-------------------+---------+---------+ | | present | link | link | +------------+-------------------+---------+---------+ | | absent | peer | target | | present +-------------------+---------+---------+ | | present | peer | link | +------------+-------------------+---------+---------+ When IFLA_LINK_NETNSID is present, the device is created in link netns first and then moved to target netns. This has some side effects, including extra ifindex allocation, ifname validation and link events. These could be avoided if we create it in target netns from the beginning. On the other hand, the meaning of src_net parameter is ambiguous. It varies depending on how parameters are passed. It is the effective link (or peer netns) by design, but some drivers ignore it and use dev_net instead. To provide more netns context for drivers, this patch packs existing newlink() parameters, along with the source netns, link netns and peer netns, into a struct. The old "src_net" is renamed to "net" to avoid confusion with real source netns, and will be deprecated later. The use of src_net are converted to params->net trivially. 2024-12-09qca_spi: Make driver probing reliableStefan Wahren1-1/+1
The module parameter qcaspi_pluggable controls if QCA7000 signature should be checked at driver probe (current default) or not. Unfortunately this could fail in case the chip is temporary in reset, which isn't under total control by the Linux host. So disable this check per default in order to avoid unexpected probe failures. 2024-12-09qca_spi: Fix clock speed for multiple QCA7000Stefan Wahren2-15/+10
Storing the maximum clock speed in module parameter qcaspi_clkspeed has the unintended side effect that the first probed instance defines the value for all other instances. Fix this issue by storing it in max_speed_hz of the relevant SPI device. This fix keeps the priority of the speed parameter (module parameter, device tree property, driver default). Btw this uses the opportunity to get the rid of the unused member clkspeed. 2024-10-09qca_spi: Improve reset mechanismStefan Wahren3-15/+20
The commit 92717c2356cb ("net: qca_spi: Avoid high load if QCA7000 is not available") fixed the high load in case the QCA7000 is not available but introduced sync delays for some corner cases like buffer errors. So add the reset requests to the atomics flags, which are polled by the SPI thread. As a result reset requests and sync state are now separated. This has the nice benefit to make the code easier to understand. 2024-10-08net: qcom/emac: Find sgmii_ops by device_for_each_child()Zijun Hu1-5/+17
To prepare for constifying the following old driver core API: struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, void *data, int (*match)(struct device *dev, void *data)); to new: struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, const void *data, int (*match)(struct device *dev, const void *data)); The new API does not allow its match function (*match)() to modify caller's match data @*data, but emac_sgmii_acpi_match(), as the old API's match function, indeed modifies relevant match data, so it is not suitable for the new API any more, solved by implementing the same finding sgmii_ops function by correcting the function and using it as parameter of device_for_each_child() instead of device_find_child().
