2026-09-30r8169: disable EEE on RTL8168h/8111hOleksij Rempel1-0/+6
Force EEE off on the RTL8168h/8111h (RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_46) at PHY connect with phy_disable_eee(). Commit 202fef9bbbf5 ("net: phy: realtek: fix EEE advertisement write on the internal PHY MMD path") made EEE actually advertise on the generic Realtek PHY; the write had been a no-op before. On the RTL8168h that un-masks a latent defect: once EEE negotiates, RX silently stalls after ~7-20 minutes. The carrier stays up, no counter or dmesg moves, and only "ip link set down/up" recovers it; disabling EEE keeps the link stable. Root-causing the RTL8168h LPI/RX path needs hardware not available now, so disable EEE for this version. Use phy_disable_eee() rather than dropping the version from rtl_supports_eee(): the latter also skips rtl_enable_tx_lpi(), whose disable branch clears the MAC TX-LPI bits (ERI 0x1b0[1:0]) on link up. rtl_hw_start_8168h_1() does not clear them (the RTL8402/RTL8106e init does), so a warm reboot from an EEE-active state could otherwise leave TX-LPI asserted while the PHY no longer negotiates EEE. Keeping the version EEE-capable preserves that clear path. This also covers the RTL8168M, which shares RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_46. 2026-08-188139cp: fix Rx and Tx not being disabled in cp_suspendKarl Mehltretter1-1/+1
On QEMU rtl8139 model, frames that arrive while the interface is suspended still end up in the stack after resume. With pm_test=devices, which keeps devices suspended for 5s, 200 frames sent to interface during that time and 50 frames after resume, eth0 reports 113 received frames. cp_suspend() is supposed to stop receiver and the transmitter, but the mask is wrong: (~RxOn | ~TxOn) is ~0, nothing is cleared and Cmd still reads 0x0d when cp_suspend() returns. Use ~(RxOn | TxOn) so both bits are actually cleared. 2026-08-17r8169: keep LED device name valid after setupZhixing Chen1-6/+5
rtl8168_setup_ldev() and rtl8125_setup_led_ldev() build the LED device name in a stack buffer and assign it to led_cdev->name. The LED class device registration path reads led_cdev->name after it has been assigned, and struct led_classdev stores the name as part of the LED class device state. Do not keep a pointer to a setup function's stack buffer there. Store the name in struct r8169_led_classdev instead, so it remains valid for the lifetime of the LED class device. 2026-08-12r8169: give RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_EXTENDED a distinct valueKarl Mehltretter1-1/+1
RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_EXTENDED implicitly follows RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_LAST = RTL_GIGA_MAC_NONE - 1, so it has the same value as RTL_GIGA_MAC_NONE. rtl_init_one() therefore sends unknown chips through extended detection. If TX_CONFIG_V2 reads as zero, they are misidentified as RTL9151AS instead of being rejected. Give RTL_GIGA_MAC_VER_EXTENDED a distinct value. It is only a detection marker and is never stored in tp->mac_version. Found by Clang's -Wduplicate-enum and verified with a QEMU stub. 2026-07-27rtase: fix double free of multi-frag skb on DMA map failureYun Lu1-0/+3
In rtase_start_xmit(), when the head buffer DMA mapping fails after rtase_xmit_frags() has mapped all fragments, the error path clears the fragment descriptors with rtase_tx_clear_range(), which frees the skb through the last-frag slot and accounts tx_dropped. Control then falls through to the common error label, which frees the same skb a second time and counts it again. Return right after clearing the fragments when the skb owns frags; the no-frag case still drops through and frees the head skb once. 2026-07-21rtase: Workaround for TX hang caused by hardware packet parsingJustin Lai2-0/+205
The hardware performs packet parsing before packet transmission. Parsing incomplete IPv4, IPv6, TCP, or UDP headers may trigger a TX hang because the hardware parser expects additional protocol header data that is not present in the packet. The hardware performs additional PTP parsing on UDP packets identified by destination ports 319/320 at the expected UDP destination port offset. If such a packet has transport data smaller than RTASE_MIN_PAD_LEN, the hardware parser expects additional packet data and may trigger a TX hang. To avoid these hardware issues, the driver applies the following workarounds. Drop malformed packets that may trigger this hardware issue before transmission. For IPv4 non-initial fragments, the hardware does not check the fragment offset before parsing the expected transport header location. As a result, these packets are still subject to transport header parsing even though they do not contain a transport header. If the transport data is shorter than the minimum transport header required by the hardware parser, pad the transport data to the minimum transport header length required by the hardware parser. Packets that also match the hardware PTP parsing conditions continue to follow the corresponding workaround. For IPv6 fragmented packets, neither of the above hardware issues occurs because the hardware only continues packet parsing when the IPv6 Base Header Next Header field directly indicates UDP. Packets carrying a Fragment Header do not continue through the subsequent packet parsing stages. For packets identified for hardware PTP parsing, pad the transport data so it reaches RTASE_MIN_PAD_LEN before transmission. 2026-06-04rtase: Avoid sleeping in get_stats64()Justin Lai1-2/+3
The .ndo_get_stats64 callback must not sleep because it can be called when reading /proc/net/dev. rtase_get_stats64() calls rtase_dump_tally_counter(), which polls the tally counter dump bit with read_poll_timeout(). 2026-05-12net: Consistently define pci_device_ids using named initializersUwe Kleine-König (The Capable Hub)2-30/+30
... and PCI device helpers. The various struct pci_device_id arrays were initialized mostly by one the PCI_DEVICE macros and then list expressions. The latter isn't easily readable if you're not into PCI. Using named initializers is more explicit and thus easier to parse. Also use PCI_DEVICE* helper macros to assign .vendor, .device, .subvendor and .subdevice where appropriate and skip explicit assignments of 0 (which the compiler takes care of). The secret plan is to make struct pci_device_id::driver_data an anonymous union (similar to https://lore.kernel.org/all/cover.1776579304.git.u.kleine-koenig@baylibre.com/) and that requires named initializers. But it's also a nice cleanup on its own. This change doesn't introduce changes to the compiled pci_device_id arrays. Tested on x86 and arm64. 2026-05-06rtase: Fix flow control configurationJustin Lai2-0/+7
The hardware has two sets of registers controlling TX/RX flow control. The effective flow control state is determined by the logical OR of these two sets of bits. RTASE_FORCE_TXFLOW_EN and RTASE_FORCE_RXFLOW_EN in RTASE_CPLUS_CMD are the bits used by the driver to control TX/RX flow control according to the ethtool pause configuration. RTASE_TXFLOW_EN and RTASE_RXFLOW_EN in RTASE_GPHY_STD_00 are another set of TX/RX flow control enable bits. Clear them by default so they do not keep flow control enabled independently of the driver setting. With the RTASE_GPHY_STD_00 bits cleared, the effective flow control state is controlled through RTASE_CPLUS_CMD, so the ethtool setting can take effect correctly. 2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds2-3/+3
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate conversion. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) There have been reports that RTL8127 hangs on suspend and shutdown, partially disappearing from lspci until power-cycling. According to Realtek disabling PLL's when switching to D3 should be avoided on that chip version. Fix this by aligning disabling PLL's with the vendor drivers, what in addition results in PLL's not being disabled when switching to D3hot on other chip versions. 2025-11-17r8169: bail out from probe if fiber mode is detected on RTL8127AFHeiner Kallweit1-0/+9
It was reported that on a card with RTL8127AF (SFP + DAC) link-up isn't detected. Realtek hides the SFP behind the internal PHY, which isn't behaving fully compliance with clause 22 any longer in fiber mode. Due to not having access to chip documentation there isn't much I can do for now. Instead of silently failing to detect link-up in fiber mode, inform the user that fiber mode isn't support and bail out. The logic to detect fiber mode is borrowed from Realtek's r8127 driver. 2025-10-13r8169: fix packet truncation after S4 resume on RTL8168H/RTL8111HLinmao Li1-2/+3
After resume from S4 (hibernate), RTL8168H/RTL8111H truncates incoming packets. Packet captures show messages like "IP truncated-ip - 146 bytes missing!". The issue is caused by RxConfig not being properly re-initialized after resume. Re-initializing the RxConfig register before the chip re-initialization sequence avoids the truncation and restores correct packet reception. This follows the same pattern as commit ef9da46ddef0 ("r8169: fix data corruption issue on RTL8402"). 2025-09-19r8169: set EEE speed down ratio to 1ChunHao Lin1-3/+3
EEE speed down means speed down MAC MCU clock. It is not from spec. It is kind of Realtek specific power saving feature. But enable it may cause some issues, like packet drop or interrupt loss. Different hardware may have different issues. EEE speed down ratio (mac ocp 0xe056[7:4]) is used to set EEE speed down rate. The larger this value is, the more power can save. But it actually save less power then we expected. And, as mentioned above, will impact compatibility. So set it to 1 (mac ocp 0xe056[7:4] = 0) , which means not to speed down, to improve compatibility. 2025-09-11eth: 8139too: Make 8139TOO_PIO depend on !NO_IOPORT_MAPDaniel Palmer1-1/+1
When 8139too is probing and 8139TOO_PIO=y it will call pci_iomap_range() and from there __pci_ioport_map() for the PCI IO space. If HAS_IOPORT_MAP=n and NO_GENERIC_PCI_IOPORT_MAP=n, like it is on my m68k config, __pci_ioport_map() becomes NULL, pci_iomap_range() will always fail and the driver will complain it couldn't map the PIO space and return an error. NO_IOPORT_MAP seems to cover the case where what 8139too is trying to do cannot ever work so make 8139TOO_PIO depend on being it false and avoid creating an unusable driver.
