2022-11-07can: dev: fix skb drop checkOliver Hartkopp1-1/+1
In commit a6d190f8c767 ("can: skb: drop tx skb if in listen only mode") the priv->ctrlmode element is read even on virtual CAN interfaces that do not create the struct can_priv at startup. This out-of-bounds read may lead to CAN frame drops for virtual CAN interfaces like vcan and vxcan. This patch mainly reverts the original commit and adds a new helper for CAN interface drivers that provide the required information in struct can_priv. 2022-07-28can: peak_usb: advertise timestamping capabilities and add ioctl supportVincent Mailhol5-0/+45
Currently, userland has no method to query which timestamping features are supported by the peak_usb driver (aside maybe of getting RX messages and observe whether or not hardware timestamps stay at zero). The canonical way to add hardware timestamp support is to implement ethtool_ops::get_ts_info() in order to advertise the timestamping capabilities and to implement net_device_ops::ndo_eth_ioctl() as requested in [1]. Currently, the driver only supports hardware RX timestamps [2] but not hardware TX. For this reason, the generic function can_ethtool_op_get_ts_info_hwts() and can_eth_ioctl_hwts() can not be reused and instead this patch adds pcan_get_ts_info() and peak_eth_ioctl(). The CANFD-USB PCAN-USB FD interface undergoes an internal component change that requires a slight modification of its drivers, which leads them to dynamically use endpoint numbers provided by the interface itself. In addition to a change in the calls to the USB functions exported by the kernel, the detection of the USB interface dedicated to CAN must also be modified, as some PEAK-System devices support other interfaces than CAN. 2022-01-05can: do not increase tx_bytes statistics for RTR framesVincent Mailhol2-12/+9
The actual payload length of the CAN Remote Transmission Request (RTR) frames is always 0, i.e. no payload is transmitted on the wire. However, those RTR frames still use the DLC to indicate the length of the requested frame. As such, net_device_stats::tx_bytes should not be increased when sending RTR frames. The function can_get_echo_skb() already returns the correct length, even for RTR frames (c.f. [1]). However, for historical reasons, the drivers do not use can_get_echo_skb()'s return value and instead, most of them store a temporary length (or dlc) in some local structure or array. Using the return value of can_get_echo_skb() solves the issue. After doing this, such length/dlc fields become unused and so this patch does the adequate cleaning when needed. This patch fixes all the CAN drivers. Finally, can_get_echo_skb() is decorated with the __must_check attribute in order to force future drivers to correctly use its return value (else the compiler would emit a warning). 2022-01-05can: do not increase rx statistics when generating a CAN rx error message frameVincent Mailhol3-7/+0
The CAN error message frames (i.e. error skb) are an interface specific to socket CAN. The payload of the CAN error message frames does not correspond to any actual data sent on the wire. Only an error flag and a delimiter are transmitted when an error occurs (c.f. ISO 11898-1 section 10.4.4.2 "Error flag"). For this reason, it makes no sense to increment the rx_packets and rx_bytes fields of struct net_device_stats because no actual payload were transmitted on the wire. 2021-12-29net: Don't include filter.h from net/sock.hJakub Kicinski1-0/+1
sock.h is pretty heavily used (5k objects rebuilt on x86 after it's touched). We can drop the include of filter.h from it and add a forward declaration of struct sk_filter instead. This decreases the number of rebuilt objects when bpf.h is touched from ~5k to ~1k. There's a lot of missing includes this was masking. Primarily in networking tho, this time. 2021-07-25can: peak_usb: PCAN-USB: add support of loopback and one-shot modeStephane Grosjean1-4/+49
The CAN - USB PCAN-USB interface is able to generate one-shot frames as well as loopback frames that it transmits starting from version 4.1 of its firmware. This patch adds support for the one-shot and loopback functionality to the driver, that can be activated if the embedded firmware allows it. If the driver detects that the PCAN-USB device runs an old firmware (< 4.1) it prints a message suggesting to contact <support@peak-system.com> for a possible firmware update. There's no need to iterate over all supported adapters to find the struct peak_usb_adapter that describes the currently probed devices's capabilities. The driver core gives us the information for free, if we assign it to the struct usb_device_id::driver_info. In order to implement byte queue limits (bql) in CAN drivers, the length of the CAN frame needs to be passed into the networking stack even if the transmission failed for some reason. To avoid to calculate this length twice, extend can_free_echo_skb() to return that value. Convert all users of this function, too. Add a frame_len argument to can_put_echo_skb() which is used to save length of the CAN frame into field frame_len of struct can_skb_priv so that it can be later used after transmission completion. Convert all users of this function, too. Drivers which implement BQL call can_put_echo_skb() with the output of can_skb_get_frame_len(skb) and drivers which do not simply pass zero as an input (in the same way that NULL would be given to can_get_echo_skb()). This way, we have a nice symmetry between the two echo functions. The naming of can_dlc as element of struct can_frame and also as variable name is misleading as it claims to be a 'data length CODE' but in reality it always was a plain data length. With the indroduction of a new 'len' element in struct can_frame we can now remove can_dlc as name and make clear which of the former uses was a plain length (-> 'len') or a data length code (-> 'dlc') value.
